Haven't read the link.
Can you give me a list of cases were the SoGA has been successfully used up to 6 yrs with a used car please, thanks.
No I can't, but the law applies to cars just as much as any other goods so I'm sure many people have used it to gain resolution. Perhaps you don't understand the degree of protection that SOGA gives? It's not absolute even within 6 months, although after 6 months the onus switches from the retailer to the buyer, who can still use it's provisions for 6 years (in E&W).0 -
That must be a quid a mile in depreciation alone.
Not really.
It cost me about £11,000 when I got it. (it was about 6 months old and was an ex-demo) and I've recently been quoted £3700 part exchange so could get slightly more selling it.
I work outside of the UK and come back frequently on short notice and I wanted a car waiting for me that would start every time and my Focus has never let me down and will have saved me a fortune on having to hire a vehicle.0 -

If you want peace of mind, buy new. Thats the chance you take buying cars out of warranty. If you have full and correct peugeot service history, they may make a goodwill gesture, but that will probably make it the same price as having an engine fitted by an independent.
Try the SOGA, I would have said you'd have no chance in court, but after that thread the other week about a private seller having to refund for a fault in an old car that was sold, I wouldn't be surprised if some daft judge found in your favour and gave you a refund for the car and million pound compensation.0 -
I wonder if the OP actually bought it from Peugeot direct.
I asked earlier but was ignored.
I only ask as the OP would need to deal with who ever sold them the vehicle. All your base are belong to us.0 -
There seems to be a pattern with all these first time posters, dreadful situation, advice given then ignored, questions asked and ignored too, then never heard from again. Surely not the same work of one person each time?0

Their best hope is a goodwill gesture from Peugeot UK, but the chances of that are roughly zilch.0 -

We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0

Depreciation is a huge part of the cost of running a car, surprise.0
