Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Well. Without knowing more about your situation. My completely outsider view would be why is there your money and his money and not a combined pot? It feels like there are not shared financial goals?

  • The only combined debts we have is the mortgage, he has his cards and I have mine. It's just always been that way. Aside from shared bills we each have our own responsibilities.

    I've never really minded that.

DH and I share the bills etc but then what's left is our 'spare cash' to do with what we like. It's amazing how different we are with that... My gut instinct is that your dh is jealous that you earn more than he does. Obviously I don't know that for sure though - just my thoughts.
I do know that money is one thing that dh and I do argue an awful lot about though.
  • Hi CCL

If he is jealous he has no need to be, I don't judge him on it and for me it's not a problem paying more than half of the bills, I feel it's fair to pay them proportionally.

Maybe he could earn more money in a higher role but he doesn't want the added responsibility or stress of management so he seems happy where he is.

    Horses for courses :)

Totally agree with you. I'm the same - I earn twice as much as dh and pay twice as much. Fair's fair. I can't help but get a bit resentful though that my spare money goes on the kids and cats, and his goes on him. That's just me though :p
  • Glad it's not just me then. :p

Hope things are ok with you CCL? I need some time to catch up on your diary xx

  • Hi again

Not much to report this week, outings are done now so I should be able to get a few NSDs in before payday and have some spare to PAD on payday-eve...

It really has been a long month! Thought I'd come in under the grocery budget yesterday but forgot a couple of things so need to go back again today, it's like a tradition, even when I'm armed with a (what I think is) complete list, there's always something!

Have a lovely day... Gardening for me whilst the sun is shining!

  • Glad I gardened when I did, it's been bucketing it down this evening... so much so that the dog doesn't want to go out, she's just creeping back to her bed haha!

Made by obligatory PAD this morning and followed that with a NSD today. I just need to get through tomorrow and then it's pay day! I have my pay slip though and the increase/tax change result in me being £35 up each month in my pocket. Better than nothing :)

Checked my Topcashback, no more changes but still £90-odd tracking (plus a missing £60 from my life cover but they won't look into that for 180 days...) Just been on Pinecone and redeemed my points for £6 into the old PayPal account, that'll do nicely as a PAD when it clears into the bank!

I check Quidco every day, I get loads of emails saying my retailers have increased etc etc but I've £53 tracking and it never seems to go confirmed or payable. Does anyone else use Quidco? It doesn't seem to be as good as TCB in my experience, well the experience I have so far anyway!

That's all I have to report for now, I'm trying to get back to regular posting - more for keeping myself on track than anything else :p

The plan for tomorrow is to have a NSD and PAD whatever is left in my bank account to the savings.

    Have a lovely evening

Oh please come and do my gardening. I love having a garden but hate gardening with a passion...
I prefer TCB to Quidco - takes a long time for it to pay out on there and I think TCB tend to do better offers anyway.
    Roll on payday...
  • Lol CCL, I don't enjoy gardening either but if I don't want the back garden to end up looking like the Amazonian rainforest I need to keep it in check :D

Low maintenance is my motto! I do like spending time in the garden when it's nice though
