  • Hi Hun, thanks for popping by...

We are lucky enough to have a dishwasher so for large meals it's a godsend. All plates cleared now and said dishwasher has been put to work!

An hour of TV before making tomorrow's packed lunch

  • Just another manic Monday... It's been a busy one today and I am glad I am home, tomorrow is not forecasting to be a good one either!

Wish it were Sunday... Cos I'm going on holidaaaaaaaay!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Can't wait for the break though :)

Today has been a no spend lunch again and I took a most lovely ham sandwich, same on the cards for tomorrow... Can't beat BOGOF ham haha!

I'm planning an evening in front of some catch up TV with the dogs, it's raining and blowing a gale outside so it's time to get comfy.

I'll be up early to make my sandwiches in the morning

Hope you all had a fairly good Monday

  • Midweek Wednesday and no wine in the house... oh deary me!

So whilst I sip my diet coke and contemplate the mountain of ironing which I will probably ignore yet again I thought I would pop and an give an update.

I've finally managed to get enough swag bucks to get a £5 amazon voucher, I quite enjoy consumer surveys as they make me really evaluate what I do or the services I buy. To get paid is a bonus :)

I've been PADding as usual and checking my Halifax balance to see it going down and down. Little by little I must admit, but we are getting there.

So, after my start of the month outburst and huffery, I have managed to (already) make more than £5 a day for the month. I really should have more faith in myself haha! Perhaps the key is to continue as I am without signing up to a challenge so there's no pressure.

My calculations are that I have already paid more than 4% of my overall outstanding debt this month with regular payments and PADs. That's not bad going by my reckoning and there's still at least a week of PADs left to add to it. I am really pleased I started to look at it from another perspective as I feel like I'm achieving more. :D

I will not have enough to cover holiday spends in the current account now, but on the up-side I have finished my Christmas shopping so there's only wrapping to do. A dib into my savings will be better than all of the spending money coming from there though so this still feels like a win to me :rotfl:

When I get back from holiday I will be rooting through the cupboards to get 20 items on eBay. May do some at the start of December too but I don't want to lose anything in the Christmas post so it needs to be early in my opinion.... If I can't do it early I will do it after Christmas so that they end in January when things return to normal (whatever that IS nowadays)

That's enough rambling for one evening

    Hope you're all well!

  • So, an update...

I am back from holiday and going back to work an about an hour. I am NOT looking forward to that and I know that a few hours at my desk and I will not feel like I have had a break at all.

Holiday on the other hand was fabulous, very relaxing and a very welcome break from the stresses of life and work.

    NO CREDIT CARD SPENDS

I planned and used my savings and whilst we spent a little more than I anticipated on holiday it was all pre-planned and saved for. I am pleased with myself.

Now back to the grindstone, I am surprised how much I missed the MSE site and reading everyone's updates. PAD already made to Halifax this morning of a little £3.52, and 3 days to pay day...

Oh yes and 31 days to Christmas!

    :D

  • Welcome back LMD - pleased you enjoyed your hols :D, and lovely to see you back :)
  • :mad:Well... what a few days at work? How come you spend 2 weeks prior to a week's annual leave prepping for being off and still come back to utter chaos? :wall: I am beginning to think it would be better to not take any holibobs at all!

I have made by obligatory PAD today to Halifax, just a little round down but it all adds up. Payday on Friday which is welcome this month after the holiday spends and dog kennels to pay for (shot up since we rescued another pooch).

Christmas is sorted, we are now going to MIL's so no need to buy crimbo dinner supplies next month. Our pay date has recently changed (moved from EOM) and we used to have the choice of either 22nd Dec or 31st Dec pay. No choice this year I will be getting paid on 18th. This is too much temptation I fear especially as you get into the festive spirit! I don't want a miserable skint January so I think I will transfer ALL of my December wages to savings on 18th Dec and then move them back on my official pay day.

Does that make sense or am I being overcautious? It's all too easy to see a nice healthy bank balance and decide on a few 'treats' - especially when the sales loom. Must...Not...Loooook!:rotfl:

Cannot wait for pay day so I can start making more dents into the debt totals and update my tracker, this pay day I am going to pay all my card payments in one PAD (- would this be classed as 'quadruple'? lol) and then this frees up more days to round down... savings payments will all be made together on the next day too (groupage people!) I hope this will encourage me to add more the the 3-6 month fund on some PAD days or the good old (low!) EF...

It's a strategy I am willing to try anyway, clearly the transfer of wages on 18th will not be included in these transactions... that would be cheating!

If you're still awake after my rambling, I bid you 'adieu'

PS: 30 sleeps to Christmas :D :rudolf:

  • I hate getting paid early in December - feels like you're rich but then by about 3 days into January you realise you're not. I normally get paid last day of the month - but will be paid 22nd December this year. I am going to move my wages out of the way until new year...

I really think it's the safest option... And easy with linked accounts and Internet banking instant transactions.

Glad you had a good holiday LMD. Although feeling like you've never been away is rubbish!

I agree about the December payments, it doesn't affect me but does affect OH who is pretty terrible at budgeting at the best of times so I will be keeping a close eye on him... CCL I like that idea, probably safest thing to do!
