PS. Whilst at uni drink as much of the cheap alcohol as you can (if you drink the stuff that is) then by the time the holiday's come around you'll be sick of the stuff and you'll want a rest so you won't spend anything on the expensive drinks at your local when you're back home
:money:
On a more serious note, definitely make sure you use the (free) uni services to the fullest for help with CV writing etc, people charge you a bomb outside uni

hello boyle and ames123! nice to meet you!! i'm scared by your student debt sig boyle - i try not to think about mine - it's toooo painful! hehehe
here is a question for my fellow student moneysavers... does anyone else plan ahead (in terms of money) for when they will leave university? i'm hoping to get some money saved up so i could maybe afford a deposit on a house or anything else the big world will require me to pay hehe0 -
Hi violet, will be adding my number soon. Glad it's 9, its a lucky number of mine (birthdate).
I'm quite lucky and will be living at home so much lower rent (only £600 a term) so I'll be saving most of my student loan and maxing out my overdraft to a high interest saver, so hopefully that'll cover a lot of costs. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Has everyone else heard about the student loan rate rise, expected to double from 2.4% to 4.8% in September due to the unusually high inflation rate (RPI) because I haven't heard anything from the SLC regarding it.
IanStudent Moneysaving Expert :beer:0 -
i think i saw a facebook group about that rise, but i'll look into it - i think if there's going to be a change like that, shouldn't the SLC tell us? or am i thinking they should be more kind and honest than they probably are0

ok...well a quick google found a guardian website page which says..."Higher education minister Bill Rammell did not explicitly deny or confirm this would happen. He says that, by simply being revalued in line with inflation, loans retain their original value and students pay back in real terms exactly what they borrowed." As in any year, the prospective rise in student loan interest rates is a simple reflection of the increases in the retail price index (RPI) and is not intended to be punitive in any way," he added.
i'm sure there'll be an interest expert on here somewhere who can help more than my googling
i wish they paid us interest for taking their loans:rotfl:0
