Hi everyone!
I've now started my masters and it's going well so far. Argos is a really good way to save money (if you find what you need). I got a usb cable there for just £2.47 (normally costs £10) for a HP printer/scanner combo which cost just £33.75 from W H Smith! A flatmate brought an entire kitchenware set from Argos for just £7 (but they were out of stock when I wanted to get it) and another flatmate brought a baking tray there for just £1 (after I brought one for £10)! But I ended up spending a fortune on bedding as the cheap stuff is rubbish and I had to waste £10 on a new swipe card for my halls as someone kindly stole mine!
I'm finding it hard to keep up with my studies so I better go somewhere away from my computer (like the library) where there should be less distractions.:starmod:Student MoneySaving Club member 019!:staradminNo longer a student and very poor, but still loves to save.:dance:0 -

does anyone else get a DSA?They should help as they have for a total of 5 years. I brought my own computer and printer this time though as they kept investing in junk (mine is Norfolk) and it sounded like they weren't going to get me the equipment this time. So I was able to choose exactly what I wanted which is good brands and great specifications. Although I'm already entitled to free photocopying from my university and the DSA should agree to pay for books, ink cartridges etc and maybe software upgrades.

I do (I'm dyslexic also) but I still haven't heard back from the DSA.

i find the slc and uni quite difficult to deal with especially as i have difficulties with forms, luckily theres one woman at the lea who knows me and has helped me with a lot of funding stuff in teh past and contines to help me if i need it. my lea, bury, use barry bennet for computers and stuff who build their own so theyre good machines, plus if anythign breaks they bring you round a new one or pick it up to fix. i get extra support as i have 3 conditions in total but its all along the same lines: book allowance, photocopying, computer consumables, study skills tutor, colorometry assesment (and once ive had it overlays or glasses as required), equipment and extra support as required from tutors and in exams. luckily they allow me to guide this support so tutors help me if i need it but back off if i dont.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
does take ages to get the support though doesnt it? i applied back in april and didnt get an answer until id already been at uni for 2 weeks, now im havign to wait for my books as they can only be ordered online and you cant claim for anything thats dated before you got a yes.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0

I think I better seek advice.

yay! I feel much better now knowing I'm not the only truely skint and not through my own fault student! Have been told my loan will be in on Monday so hopefully it will be. I have no actual work as of yet just a lot of reading but I think my timetable is finally sorted out now so teething problems over I should be able to start studying properly.
I think the huge drinking sesh courtesy of my sister last night helped melt the frustration away. no injuries to report thoughThe Universe and I are playing chess...and at present I'm winning
