We we see any good deals in Bangor we'll have to let each other know. Where are you living this year? I'm in Nueuadd Willis.
I think I'm in Elidir? I know I have the name written down somewhere. Either way I'm on Ffriddoedd site (I was lucky enough to get a room for my 2nd year) and if I remember right Neuadd Willis is a long walk away.We could still contact each other by e-mail, though, if you like?

Yeah I meant tell each other on here. Yeah that's spelt right. My friend was there last year. It's not that far away really, no-where is in Bangor!Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -

Just do what you can. I think £1000 is quite a high target anyway, for someone like me with very little imagination!Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -
Quick idea for budgetting - get a notebook, and on one page, keep a running total of weekly spend, and then either on the page next to it, or on the back of the page, staple all of your reciepts (yep, even the one for the mars bar and bottle of coke!). Work it a little bit like a balance sheet - weekly budget at the top, then minus each spend. Start a new page for every single week. At the back, keep a "proper" balance sheet - list everything in and out, but just put the weekly spend in as a total rather than having to account everything twice. Makes it a bit quicker and easier than having to remember to turn on the pc and load up the spreadsheet each time you want to keep track!
If you keep track of what you spend, you won't spend as much on stuff you don't need, cos you end up feeling bad about it whenever you see that receipt for (yet another) <insert weakness here>
Anyone worked out their weekly budgets yet?**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0 -
i've not worked out my budget yet, have you? i just know i want to spend the abbbbbsolute minimum! i have clothes, things for uni, books etc, so my only real expense should be food n goin out (i hope!) the mistake i made last year was thinking, "i have the money so why worry about buying [little weakness]?" when really i need a strict budget! like this summer, having next to no money has meant i haven't spent anything unless i really have to - so now i know what are more essential than other things0

hmmm, kinda.... I know most of my expenditure, just trying to work out what to put aside for bills and materials fees! Once I work that out, I should be sorted...**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0

out of curiosity, what do you guys allow as your monthly grocery budget (to include food, drink, toiletries, toilet paper, washing powder, cleaning stuff etc)? I'm trying to figure out what's reasonable and not putting my budget so low I can never keep to it!0

Im setting my grocery budget at 20 per week for food and cleaning stuff and maybe an extra £15 a week for toiletries.
I will see what I can achieve at these leveals for a month and then tray and make savings next month. I have a stock of easy to do meals that can be bulk cooked and I am going to wean myself off my organic produce habit.
The only thing that I cant comprimise on is my lotions and potions. However I've been home armed with lots of empty pots and I have generously decanted lots of stuff to bring to uni with meI am also going to have a scout round bodycare and savers to see if I can get the brands I like cheaper. I have also bought a copuple of bits of makeup for ebay, its much cheaper. An eyeshawdow normally costs me £9 but I got two off ebay in the USA for £6 including postage! I'm well impressed!
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0
