Oh and tesco vouchers, the ones they send you for 2.50 plus if you save them and don't spend them instore they ae worth 4x the value! Have a look on the tesco site.

yeah definately dont spend tesco vouchers instore, theyre worth 4 x in deals tokens. theres usually deals booklets instore you can pick up and have a look at. we usually use ours for holidays and meals out :)

  • aldi is good for fresh fruit and veg as they get it 2nd after morrisons, so it lasts a lot lonegr than tescos, asdas etc.

  • Just noticed the best student bank accounts, student funding and student loan articles have now been updated for 2007/08. Also, I think for the first time there is some info on Scottish student loans...

its national- their buyers just pay more than soem of teh other supermarkets, only morrisosns pay more than aldi, so hence they get it first. i have noticed expecially things liek mushrooms, aldi ones will be ok for upto a week but tesco ones go off after 3 days.

  • I save movey on food by going to ever free meal event in the university calander. The religious soccietys will do about 1 free meal a week. Also companys who come in to uni to recrute people often have free buffets. Just sit throught the presentation. I take samdwich bags and take away left overs at the end. I know people who have left with 3 bottles of wine and enough sandwiches to last a week. Another tip is to buy reduced bread an hour before a supermarket closes then frezze it.

  • thank you for your tips everyone! here is something i just read here:
    • Ten 12p texts a day: £438 a year
    • A £1 bus ride, twice a day: £700 a year
    • A Starbucks every day: £700 a year
    • A takeaway meal twice a week: £2,000 a year
    • Five pints of Carling every Friday and Saturday: £1,400 a year

makes you think! also even if you use martin's budgeting calculator to work out the costs per year and not termly, it's still useful because i only budgeted (stupidly) for rent for the 9 months or whatever that i was at uni, and have been really scraping by to pay my rent over the summer on the house that i have for this year, which has a 12 month contract - arghhhh

Yay this club is mentioned in the weekly email!

Another tip: join quidco. I joined yesterday. It's cashback on your shopping and there are also a few few things you can complete for money. I am a member of several cashback sites but haven't done them for ages. Think I will stick with this one now.
