Thanks for the tip off about the Asda fleeces. I'll pop there later.

 welshies are taking over the thread! Thanks all for the replies about the cavity wall insulation, it sounds like it should be fairly painless then. Its one of the last things that we have to do, along with some more loft insulation as we had a new roof and central heating system last year.
I think I'm going to follow the example of some other posters and spend the weekend going trough my kitchen cupboards, making an inventory of my staples and arranging an " In case of emergency" box with candles, batteries, tins of soup.....

the council had our houses done last year, was just a bit noisy for a wee while they drilled the holes to put the stuff in and after they finished there was some red dusty stuff on the ground around the house which just rinsed away with the garden hose.Has made a big difference :T

my Toast catalogue arrived today. the stuff is quite expensive but very nice. they have leg warmers and wrist warmers and blankets and scarfs etc . i recon by dressing warmly and not putting the heating on it saves the oil money so,by default ,the clothes cost nowt! and are reusable. https://www.toast.co.uk

Our Asda was selling the smart price fleece blankets for £1.97. I wonder why the difference in price?
But, they also had 10.5 tog double goose feather and down quilts reduced from £30 to £18, so we got one of those. Our current quilt is only 4.5 tog, so I'll put that one under the bottom sheet when it gets colder.
