Biscuit_monster wrote: »Evening all,
I agree re asking for money - I'm not keen on the idea. I actually think presents are going a bit far too! If OH and I were ever to get married I have told him it would just have to be me and the kids, and we wouldn't tell anyone. I don't like the fuss and expense, I'd rather have a really good holiday. We have been together 21 years, so I think we might have left it a bit too long!
As for flying today, done my list except for the paperwork frog. Does it count if I just throw it all on the fire?
1 of my cousins had been with his mrs for 17 years when they married and another has been with his 28 years and they still haven't got married.. my reasons are partly because if I croak now with no will and not married DS1 will end up with the house and insurance and £250k (not a lot I know) = a very very drunk person!! Plus if we don't get married I will have the same surname as that filthy wh0re CF is marrying next year and people might think we are related (did I mention the guy she used to deal drugs for has just been released from prison last month?) .. AND.. if I croak I will have CF's name on my headstone FOREVER!!!!!!! and EVER!!!! Morning all,
Piggers, that's a fairly good reason to get married
I'm not posting a list yet, me and the girls off school uniform shopping - we go off on the train, have lunch and make a day of it, so I'll just get the daily stuff done this morning, and see what time I have left when I get back.
Ps girls put on the telly this morning and Bear Grylls was on. They are both now busy writing letters to him telling him off for "wasting beautiful animals by eating them when you don't need to "

:eek:Well that's the weirdest thing in the history of things, just had a text message saying "I love you" and it's not from DH phone:eek: it's not a number in my book so not the kids. Very strange!! Guessing it's a wrong number and the sender would be mortified if I texted back "erm who are you":rotfl:SPC~12 ot 124

Pigpen, you can change your name immediately to one of your choosing, by Statutory Declaration before a solicitor. I can send you a copy of mine (and my DH also used exactly the same format when he changed his English Christian names to the Welsh equivalents, to honour his Celtic connections) so you won't have to pay the solicitor to do the paperwork - it will probably cost you about £25 to do so and is perfectly legal. Banks, the passport office etc are happy to accept the documentation (though you'd have to buy a new passport in your new name:( they won't give it to you, though that also applies also if you change your name by marriage). And please make a will asap to protect all your children: it does not need to be complicated.
Despite going back to bed after breakfast yesterday and sleeping for most of the morning, in the afternoon and evening I made good inroads into my biggest frog and gulped down a couple of tadpoles. I also signed up to do a weekly evening course starting in October (bookish rather than crafty) - just hope my brain can cope
Today's list:
- financial check and money shuffle DONE
- order a book DONE
- post 2 letters (one is a birthday card, still to be written)
- SW all morning
- call in at the computer shop
- vol job all afternoon
- food shop on the way home
- place bid on Fleabay before 19.00
- baking for DS2's family and more frog work this evening
The washing and all other types of flying will have to wait until Thursday, as I'm out all day tomorrow too. Most of the house is tidy, and I'm not expecting any visitors.
Hope the rain has stopped where you are. My garden looks happier today.
(((Hugs)), spoons and sticks all round as needed. Have a good day, all x0 -

Yes, Biscuit Monster, heaving the paperwork mountain on the fire counts as dealing with paperwork.
Ionafan, you're mind will cope just fine with the bookishness.
And Pigpen, may I echo Ionafan's plea for you to make a will? This won't apply to you because you don't live in Cornwall, but if someone there dies intestate their estate passes to the Duchy, ie Prince Charles. I have no idea if similar bits of ancient statute apply elsewhere in the UK, but my guess would be that they do. Scary.
Top layer carpets sucked and looking a bit better ... for about five minutes.Better is good enough.0 -

It is £150 to make a will and £27 to change my name to one which I have absolutely no idea what to choose.. what do you call yourself when you got married to get rid of your fathers name and now need rid of the other??? If I had a name in mind to change mine to I would have done it 6 years ago!
For £90 I can get married and deal with it all at once and sort a will when I've finished with all the current court $h!t.Honey_Bear wrote: »And Pigpen, may I echo Ionafan's plea for you to make a will? It just goes to the 'next of kin' which would be DS1 who can't be trusted with £5 let alone the rest.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
