Well just come visit me instead.. I'd thank them kindly for the invite and decline graciously.. it sounds like it might be a ploy to meet you.. set up another meeting their wedding isn't really the place imo.

Unfortunately not an option to decline, we'll just have to go with it. It may turn out to be the best party we've ever been to.

Shredding done here, and just having an early lunch. I don't think it is going to stop raining, so plan is just to get on with bathing the dogs, then hoovering and mopping through. What an exciting day..

lol.. I would refuse it.. if they can afford a wedding there why do they need gifts? I think I have a very different idea of what a wedding should be and should represent than most other people.. :/

    I declined this one .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allerton_Castle

I'd have happily gone along to that one, Pigpen! Just goes to show how shallow I am, doesn't it? Tbh, I'm very surprised by most weddings nowadays - they sometimes seem more of an expensive pantomime to me but that doesn't mean I don't want to celebrate the marriage. The saddest thing I've ever seen at an antiques market was a silver booklet charm with modern day wedding photos in it.

Clearing paperwork here before I go back to tackling my froggie RoD.
    Better is good enough.

I was repulsed by the whole charade.. I quite agree that it seems false and pretentious.. I'd be happy just having someone to love me enough to want to marry me.. but it would be a just us and a couple of witnesses.. but my reasons are different. I had less than 100 guests when I married cf. 85ish were my close family who I saw regularly and my siblings!

Again though.. my brain does appear to be wired differently to the rest of the world!

ooh.. I was writing a frog list.. lunch for pinks first..

I think my brain must be wired quite closely to yours actually Piggers, just 30 guests at our wedding also in '85.

Dogs bathed, house hoovered and mopped through. Still raining although it did stop for 10 minutes which was just enough time for the dogs to enjoy the garden.

    What to do next?

Does it count as Frog-munching if it's just sucking carpets? Stairs and middle layer given a quick going over because this dog sheds like crazy. No amount of brushing gets all the loose fur out, which sticks like velcro to the carpet wherever he lies down.

I have cleaned the bathroom, it was disgusting.

Going to get the CofD into the car now and take over to DS1's then hoover upstairs when I get back and call it a day flying wise, struggling!

Not been to a wedding in years. Last one was one where we all wore hawiian shirts and had a hog roast at a rugby club, it was great fun. Never been to one in a posh location, lovely if you can afford it I guess.

:xmastree: I bet you don't use that anymore :D

Long time ago I used to fly or at least flap rather weakly. I'd like to re-join you all, and think that I can at least manage some of today's list!

And as it happens I do have a frog list, off to tackle a bit of it now.......

    hello!

Back from the wedding and I have found you! FWIW I know the bride;)

Go with the 'what you would have spent on a gift' advice.

Dress looked good - and I managed to keep my shoes on most of the time and even danced in them.

LilySue I have fond memories of :xmastree: welcome home.

I've got DS3 in tears with the stress buidling up of going back to school.

Took the CofD over to DS1, he seems in a grump but that's not my problem now ;)

    Kittens are being needy.

Missing DS2 who is away hiking with a friend.

Just having a cuppa and the I'll do the hoovering.
