Thanks for the thread Natty.
It is raining heavily here in Essex. We are going to the C0untess of W@wick's show at midday. It's usually packed but I figure the rain will put lots of people off. We will go armed with wellies and waterproofs.
DD1 is poorly, I feel really sorry for her. It's the first bank holiday weekend she has had of work in ages and she's not able to do a thing.
I've booked Jump Str33t tomorrow for DS3 and DD2 as a last day of holidays treat. It will mean an early start, we have to be in C0lchester for 8.30am. DS3 starts Year 7 on Wednesday. DD2 and DS2 don't go back until the 7th.
The kitchen has been S/S and I've done 3 loads of washing. DH did a cooked breakfast so a good start to the day all round.
Dusty I agree with you with regard to the wedding money question. Give what you would have spent on a gift.0 -
Thanks for the thread, Natty :A
I might actually achieve today's list :rotfl:
Monday ~ Bank Holiday..
Because I'm feeling so nice....Have the day off but......
Do your dailies
Tackle a frog or 5
and spend the rest of the day doing nice things with your family!"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers
"I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night" - Bon Jovi0 -
Thanks for the thread Natty, what a lovely list.
So, today I will:
Daily stuff
Mini food shop
Cancel milk for later on in the week (small holiday)
Walk dogs (extra dog as dog sitting until Wednesday)
Frogs: 30 mins on paperwork at it is getting out of hand
As much ironing as I can stand
Make a start on decorating our new bedroom.
See you later all0 -
I'm in - and will be able to say I completed the list!
Throwing it down here. Sadly it will continue all day and we have our local village show. DH is furious, having copped running the refreshments which is the cricket club's biggest fundraiser. Given that he is secretary, treasurer, does the teas singlehandedly and helps prepare the pitch it does seem a bit of an overload.
hope everyone has a good day.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Can I ask you lovely people for some advice please? We are going to a wedding soon and the couple have asked for money instead of having a present list. Now, my dilemma is that we haven't actually met the couple yet although I expect that at some time in the future we will be related.
Any ideas what a suitable amount might be??
Have a great day everyone.
Nothing.. why would you even go to a wedding of people you have never met? that is really bizarre. How did you even manage an invite?? Piggers, and it's in your neck of the woods too! These people are the parents of DD's partner. We maybe should have sorted out meeting them sooner seeing as DD has been with her love for two years now. Anyhow thanks for all your replies, I'm feeling less and less generous as the day goes on.....
Flywise - I have emptied the ironing basket and planted some seed in the greenhouse. Still raining heavily.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Well just come visit me instead.. I'd thank them kindly for the invite and decline graciously.. it sounds like it might be a ploy to meet you.. set up another meeting their wedding isn't really the place imo.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thank you for the threads Natty and Bossy x
I too love this group and you all x
I'm struggling with my back since we came home. At first I thought it was asthma but now I suspect muscle spasms.
DH has done the ironing
Wm has done 3 loads
Ds1 got up at 11am. Not like him.
Ds2 is screaming at mario.
I have done all the shreading.
Toy corner is looking like a tip so will to tackle that.
Wet and windy here.0 -
I have a fixed amount in my mind for wedding presents so if people ask for cash they get the same as everyone else would for a thing from their list. And, I hate to say it, but I have been to weddings where I haven't known the bride or groom - the last one was here, so who would refuse that invitation? (Shallow, moi?) The bride was a cousin's only child and I used to be very close to that cousin when we were younger, so under those circumstances I was very happy to give them something for their life together.
Thank you for the lists, Bossy and Natty. Excellent list, btw. 15 minutes froggie dusting done. Frog list is forming in my brain, but resembles frogspawn at the moment.Better is good enough.0 -
Shopping done and way too much money spent despite grabbing quite a few reduced items that we will use
Freezer has been shuffled, but I still need to shuffle the cupboards and fridge.
DD is on her way home so I'm trying to have a coffee in peace. Its not going wellCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
