Well back to being good this week. Weigh in tonight so will see what damaged I've caused on week 1. Everytime I start up again I go binge crazy! Probably the only person to put weight on in the first week lol.
Been for a swim this morning. Only did a 1/4 of a mile but better than nothing! Have also been to my favourite farm shop and bought loads of meat, fruit and veg. Though I won't be eating the veg because if any of you remember me from the past, I don't eat veg!
Today so far I've just had fruit. Not because I'm trying to rescue any damage, I know its too late for that, but I just really fancied some fruit! Gonna make myself some lunch soon.
Plan for the day is:
Breakfast: Grapes ad oranges
Snack after gym: Apple
Lunch: Cheese omelette (HEA)
Tea: Chicken, new potatoes, egg white, beetroot, pickled onions
Snacks: 2 hi-fi orange bars (I love them) (HEB)
Thats the plan anyway!
Will be back tonight with my shame weigh in, lol!

Another vote here for cooking whole, I find it to difficult to peel as I have arthritis, it can also be done in microwave. I put it in a clear roasting bag and its done in 1o mins. for soup I don't remove the skin only the seeds, then blitz it in processor.
Wow loads of ways to cook a BNS, it's probably my favourite veg! i never thought of using the microwave if just using it for mash or soup..
OH happily eats the skin when it's been roasted so i don't have to peel it, i'm not a fan though and always cut it off after.
And don't be upset if your fingers will turn a bit orange when you've cut it all up :eek:Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
It is so frustrating at times Smedley. you've just got to keep going. Its a constant work in progress. Losing or maintaining its all about effort and keeping focused and your mind on the ball. I'd love to just be able to eat without thinking about it and having to plan it but I can't or I would be back the size of a house again. :rotfl: If you and your Mum are doing well and feeling happy don't put too much pressure on yourselves. It doesn't matter when you get to target you'll be just as happy when you get there in whatever space of time. You've put in loads of hard work so far and yeah your not at target and you maybe thought you would be but you've both lost and are keeping it off:T
I do agree with you, even though I am not losing as much as before, I am still losing, and I am happy with this because getting to and maintaining is a lifestyle choice for me, not a quick fix.
My body is a temple, and it knows when it is happy!
I will pass this advice onto my Mum, I can feel her frustration being weight loss stagnant, and watching me as I am still losing!
I feel she is being too hard on herself which, as you say, is putting herself under pressure!
I wish SW would publish some realistic online advice, All the advice is about checking and re-checking. I am sure that if she had concrete advice, why's how's etc. then she would not feel so down.SW loss= 15.5kg / 2st 6.2lb0 -

Well, I've been missing for a few days and the thread has moved on so much. I love bns, soup is lovely especially with a bit of fresh lime juice
Jamie Oliver cooks it without peeling, just cutting into chunks and I have to say in a casserole or as a side dish it's fine like that.
Yesterday was a bit of a disaster we went out to some friends for the evening. All that was on offer was sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and cake! I did partake but didn't go back for seconds which I definitely would have done before!
Back on plan today
Breakfast - free yogurt and a banana
Lunch - baked potato with cheese, bacon and tomatoes (he)
Dinner - chicken with kale, courgette and chorizo (2syns)0 -
It's similar to sweet potato but less sweet with a slight nuttiness.
LL
Thanks lois. My DH loves sweet potatoes so I think I'll try one when I see reasonable sizes.
Glad you're getting a bit of time to yourselves at last . Weather looks good this week.:)In the Microwave:eek: Think I'd be afraid of this!!! Bit afraid of the singing Turnip too! Thankfully I don't like turnip so there will never be one in my microwave singing! :rotfl:
I do singing swede as when I boil it it never seems to go soft enough to mash. It's no different to doing a JP in the microwave.
smedley, I'm not exactly sure of the science behind a weightloss plateau but I think it might be the body's way of hanging on to fat when it hasn't got much left as a sort of survival thing. They are very common and generally only happen when you get close to target. If you have a lot left to lose then it's possible that either you're not having enough variety (body used to having exactly the same) or there is a mistake creeping in somewhere. The other option is not enough Speed food!!:D
SW do recommend EESP as a short term way of speeding up weightloss. It's not the same as EE. You need to limit yourself to Speed Food, Protein, HEXs (1A and 2Bs) and syns. So no carbs like potatoes, rice or pasta and no free yogurts. So, as an example, instead of having a typical meal of a third each of meat, speed veg and potatoes you have half each lean meat and veg and no potatoes. One way of getting round the lack of carbs is to substitute a Speed food so things like lantanna's Bolognese on top of a BNS instead of pasta or I've done swede and carrot mash instead of potato. It is a bit restrictive but it's not meant to be a permanent way of eating. It might be what you and your mum need as a project to kick start weightloss again.0 -

Oh yes anyone that makes BNS Soup has to run it by Chief Taster. Me!! :rotfl:
We tried the BNS and Red Pepper Soup at the weekend lantanna and that was a definite hit - Mum even had a small bowl for her lunch today :rotfl:. I seem to think we have also tried the Spiced BNS Soup too and enjoyed that - both on SW website.
I've always had a sweet-tooth and really struggle with the diet-type desserts as they just don't seem to hit the spot. I have tried many variations over the years and have yet to find anything that really works for me so I just tend to stick to fruit or lf yoghurt and use a few syns for a small amount for chocolate/biscuit/standard dessert. A few weeks ago I was really fancying crisps which was quite unusual for me - so perhaps my tastes changing after all :rotfl:-2lbs for me please shala that's the Birthday gain gone so my fivers are safe
Decided on a shop from home this week as have a lot in the freezers to use up thanks to some lucky reduced finds Also need to defrost them both so running them down makes sense Having had a good look I think I can do this for a month or more no problem, then I can make a start on the cnristmad stuff :rotfl:already have joint beef and gammon put by.
Well done on fab loss meg and on your new winter coat. :T That is something I'm going to have to look out for - could really do with with an everyday warm jacket (of the weatherproof variety) and also something a bit smartish iykwim. Still trying to work out what size to buy so really need to try before I buy atm. Popped into Bon Marche today to look for something for Mum's birthday (unsuccessful) and they a lovely fur(ish) coat in and I tried it on and it looked lovely but quite impractical for our wet weather. Also tried a padded navy jacket on which was quite nice but I am going to have a good look around now that I don't have to stick to a few select shops selling up to 24s.
Hi all,
Slimming World low fat eating has educated me on how I can eat healthier, and I have never eaten and felt so good...
I have a question regarding Hitting a Plateau on weight loss.
My mum and I started the SW plan together (we are 26 weeks in), we both follow the Extra Easy plan religiously, and keep food diaries.
Has anyone ever hit a weight plateau?
What did you do to kick start again?
Why does this happen?
I know I find it harder to lose weight after losing 2st 5.5lbs (still doing the same successful things), and my Mum has not lost or gained weight for 8 weeks now (she is doing aerobic exercise every day).
I did see an article from this forum about Extra Easy SP, furthermore when I went to SW online, I saw that the Extra Easy SP seemed to be Extra Easy (or that's how it seemed).
Menu item (Slimming World->my weight loss plan->Extra Easy SP)
My mum is on the point of throwing in the towel again!
She had the same thing 10 years ago when she joined a local SW group, the consultant promised to help but never did
Would appreciate any feedback.
The things I've tried Smedley when the numbers have stuck are to try and vary Healthy Extras and to make sure I am using my syns. Just a thought, is your Mum being too strict with herself - people have commented that when they have had a few 'off plan' meals' it can sometimes boost their metabolism. It can get quite frustrating at times when things don't shift as we would like them, but just try and keep your eyes on the end result and the fact you are eating healthily and have both lost decent amounts so far and you are reaping the benefits already.
Another Monday night weigher-in here CP- we can celebrate/commiserate with each other later :rotfl: Well done with your morning swim :T
I bet the lime juice with the BNS soup would be very nice Greenbeanie
Been a lovely day here today weatherwise. Had to take Mum to drs today and he is referring her to hospital tomorrow for a scan (suspected dvt). She says she wishes she had never bothered going to drs in first place (even though she probably knows it was the right thing to do). Before she left surgery, he decided to check her bp which by this time was sky-high but he said he would make an allowance for the trauma he had put her through
Catch up with you all later.
