Glad you enjoyed the fish pie, b_e_g. We’re having it tomorrow.

We made four servings and bunged a two of them in the freezer for our own version of ready meals.

    Hope you enjoy yours greentiger.

I cannot recall oil being a HE CP but I have just checked in my old book and you could have a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil as a HE. I got this book in April 2014. Hth.

It definitely was a HEB CP until the revised book came out in January. I think they started looking at things that potentially stall weightloss (like removing sugary fruits) and cut back. I think what I'd do is avoid it until you get to target and then go back to it as a HEB.

Glad you and the family enjoyed the hash tie. I thought of adding cheese too so I'll do it next time.

Feeling stuffed after dinner, but should settle down tomorrow.

Had hoped to be celebrating a Wales win tonight greentiger but will have to put it off to another day.:(

Thanks BEG, no sign of it in the new book so i'm wondering why it no longer counts but i KNEW it used to be there! ;) I use a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil in my actifry so a but gutted it has been removed, would choose that over bread because once I start eating bread I can't stop! :rotfl:

DH has just ordered a Dominos :mad: I just know i'm gonna eat some!!

Oh dear a totally disastrous weekend for me food wise. Started off on Friday with three big glasses of wine, Saturday morning lorne sausages on white bread, and then at night Pizza (home made but still not good) and more wine. Today again I couldn't resist the lorne sausage on white bread, an M&S roast beef sarnie and crisps as we were out and about at lunchtime and tonight I had a MacD's as took DS1 to see the man from uncle and when we left it was 8pm. By the time we got home and I cooked something it would be too late so we had a drive through.

Oh well Monday start of a new week. No syns for me for the next two days and with any luck I will only have put on a 1lb or 2 max.

Have to say though I have had a great weekend and lots of lovely family time :o

b_e_g, we freeze half of the fish pie too.

Maman, I don’t think there’s any doubt that Wales will qualify – they will beat Andorra at home. It looks like Scotland will be the only home nation that doesn’t make it :(

Mmmmm, Maisie, a piece n square sausage – love it! Not had one in ages! I want one – with fried onion and mustard. Has to be a plain loaf too.

  • Morning all! Sorry I haven't been around - first week in work and 'working lunches' of sandwiches filled with mayo have had me off track a little bit but I've had a sneaky little hop on the scales this morning (I know I shouldn't) and despite the off-plan-ness at the end of last week it's looking quite promising so on it with a vengeance today.

Sorry I don't have time to read back [STRIKE]properly[/STRIKE] at all over the last few pages, hope everyone is well and motivated! Someone mentioned a little while back about being in a rut and eating the same things over and over and it really resonated with me, already, only three weeks in! I've decided to set myself a little challenge of trying one new SW recipe per week in order to keep things interesting.

With that in mind, I bought a butternut squash on Saturday with no knowledge of them whatsoever - how do you know if they're ready/gone off? How do you peel/prepare them? Has anyone got a brilliant recipe for me to try? HALP!

    Anyway, today's plan:
    B - Coffee, Mullerlight, apple
D - Baby leaf salad w/ fish sticks, sweetcorn, cucumber, carrot, and balsamic vinegar.
T - 2 x Heck chick sausages (1 syn) w/ boiled potatoes and green beans with a smidge of Flora light (4 syns)

    Have a fab day all!

Maisie, well its done and you enjoyed yourself. That's what weekends are for. Just don't buy the Lorne Sausage again.:rotfl: It must be hard when the rest of the family are getting something etc to say no. It probably isn't so bad when you break it down and if you had syns to use.

Oh yes anyone that makes BNS Soup has to run it by Chief Taster :D. Me!! :rotfl:

Nice to see you back Counting Pennies!

Weekend wasn't too bad for me foodwise. Had gins on Friday night and apart from cheese and ham toasties made with sandwich thins on Saturday morning the rest of the weekend was good and on plan.

Made a Bolognese last night to have with BNS Wedges tonight. I normally don't go to the gym on a Monday night, but think I will tonight try and get pulled back from that horrific gain!

    B: Yogurt & Oats
L: Chicken & Bacon Pasta Salad
D: Bolognese & BNS Wedges with (HE) cheese

    Syns: Chocolate of some form.

Chocolate never used to be my thing but I find myself wanting it most nights now. Usually a 3 syn square of 70 %. I'd love to knock that on the head too.

I know that their is allegedly no portion control in SW but I am reducing my portions slightly to see if that has any effect. Not so much the veg part but the rest of it.

    Plodding on.

It will be ready to eat when you buy it and they last ages in the cupboard if they are whole.

To prepare it, cut the top off then peel the skin - it's not the easiest to do, I use a peeler and sometimes find its easier if you cut it in half across the middle. There are seeds in the middle of the lower half, rather like a melon, so if you cut that bit in half again you can scoop them out with a spoon. Now you can decide whether to cut it into chunks, chips or wedges and then you can cook it in various ways - roast, boil, or steam.

You can also cook it in the skin - cut it in half from top to bottom, scoop out the seeds, cover the cut side with foil and bake in the oven for approx 30 minutes until tender. You can put a filling in the hollow bit - I do a mixture of couscous with cooked peppers and onions, and grate cheese over the top then pop it back in the oven to melt the cheese.

They are well worth the effort as it is speed food so you can use it in place of potatoes if you're doing EESP, and it's a great way to reduce carbs anyway. When I cook a roast dinner I roast BNS, carrots and potatoes and it's really satisfying.

You can buy BNS ready prepared if you can't face the faff of peeling and chopping, but it's much more expensive.
