Then I went to Poundland and they had Ye Olde Oak ham in 300g tins which will be perfect for more Austrian hash. I also stocked up on Crunchies;).

Is this Ye Olde Oak syn-free maman? I know the YOO Gammon Ham and Premium Ham are syn-free.

Pleased you enjoyed it Sue :D

Well decorating has been completed this morning and now we have decided to change the carpet (lounge only as dining area has wooden flooring). So, it should have been a case of just straightening the place up today, getting the nick nacks back out and curtains hung and pictures on walls etc - we are now sat here with the furniture upside down (not literally I might add) ready to lift carpet tomorrow and collect a new one. Thankfully the HBs came to the rescue again tonight, with a portion of their HB Steak from the freezer. :rotfl:

I calculate that the prawns, white fish, smoked haddock, bay leaf, onion, water, peas are all free

    3 tbps cornflour = 3 syns
2 slices wholemeal bread = 6 syns (or half a Heb if I haven't used any)
    25g cheddar = 5 syns
400ml skimmed milk = 6 syns (or 1 count the cheese and milk as a HeA if I am not having them elsewhere)

Altogether its about 20 syns which works out as 5 each if you feed 4 but I tend to use my HeA for the cheese and milk and half my Heb for the bread crumbs and then it is only 1.5 syns for my portion (we scoff the lot too lol), which I don't think is too bad. Its is called quick cod and prawn gratin and the closest search I can find is this which they have made for 2. I also leave out the wine/vermouth.

Thanks Maisie, I was going to refresh my memory of the actual recipe and haven't had a chance. I always cook it from memory and I've also adapted it to reduce the Syns - I only use 1 dessert spoon of cornflour, less milk and 1 slice of bread, and leave out the white wine. I cooked it with wine once and it really didn't make any difference!

    LL :)

P.s. ETA, I use broccoli rather than peas, and sometimes eat this with loads of speed veggies to make it EESP.

Do you bank your Syns, ie work on a total of 105 a week, or work it out daily?

If it's the latter, SW would advise using flexible Syns, so you give yourself permission to go over your daily amount for an occasion and calculate the approximate number of Syns used, but then carry on keeping to your daily quota afterwards.

If you bank your Syns why don't you limit the number you have for the rest of the week.

Whatever you do, dont spoil your enjoyment of the treat by beating yourself up for having it.

Well,Brantano looked after my debit card beautifully until I was able to collect it this afternoon-even locked it an a safe overnight .
greentiger buying uniforms is the bane of my life!!It used to take the best part of a 3 days shopping to buy shoes, uniforms, lunch bags, drink bottles (I do not know where all their drink bottles go 017.gif),get haircuts, etc. This year, because a couple of my kids seem to be getting worse to take to the shops the older they get,not better,I have been breaking it up into quick trips frequently, rather than long daytrips.I still haven't found exactly the right shirts (only supermarket brand) for eldest DD,so for now have settled for "No iron" shirts (yeah,right....) that cost exctly double the price.I was about ready to send eldest to school (very strict uniform policy) in trainers when it was announced last week that her shoe size was 6EE .Six different shoe shops we tried have never stocked this size.So then we had her measured at Brantanos and they gave her a sensible shoe size :rotfl::rotfl:.

Food-wise,started well today, then been a pretty lacklustre day.

    Breakfast: a mandarine,an apple,handful of strawberries

AM: coffee with 1 sugar (1 syn)

Lunch: with 2 eldest children still home, and today being son's last day of hols before starting secondary school,we met OH for lunch at a local pub.our order was messed up,so it was abit of chicken overload: chicken goujons, southern fried chicken,BBQ chicken ,as well as onion rings,BBQ sauce, sour cream dip. Then had dessert!!!

Very late tea after all that: 2 slices wholemeal toast (HEB),Flora light (1 syn),Marmite

Snack: 2 Hifi bars (6 syns)

Skimmed milk used in cups of tea

I'm counting it as free. It looks just the same as the one in the pear shaped tin except it's not pear shaped IYSWIM. My hash would have had some syns as I put about 15g of chorizo in but I enjoyed that bit so I'll do it again.

Lois is right sue. This shouldn't be your first treat since starting SW. That's what the syns are for. Hope you didn't have a tiny portion just to save syns. You have up to 105 a week so easy to rein it back if you want to.

I haven't opened the Mikados yet shala. I often share a small bar of chocolate with DH (3.5 syns each unless I have the big half;)) so I could have 7 Mikados for that. I'm sure even a whole box isn't much more than a day's syns not that I plan to eat a whole box.

Great news about the debit card saver-upper. Saves a huge amount of hassle getting a new one.

Yep I am the same sometimes I serve it with new potatoes but always with broccoli, carrots and baby corn just to up the speed.
  • Morning. Congratulations on all the great losses.

    I can report -3lbs

I'm delighted with that as there have been a few too many off plan moments with the children as back to school treats. Anyway strictly back on plan as they're back to school today.

I could also do with some advice. A week on Sunday I'm going to India for a week on a culinary/ cookery tour  I'm really looking forward to it but really don't want to undo all my hard work so far.
