I have to confess that I rarely weigh anything:o so I had pieces of chorizo that I'd cut by eye and I weighed them yesterday to check. Fortunately some were as low as 20g and none over 25g so my 1.5 estimate in my sausage casserole was generous I'm pleased to say. Chorizo gives a nice kick of spiciness and colours the onions. I'm a convert.

I do weigh it up into 25g pieces when I buy it (I buy it in France as the flavour seems to be better!) and assume I have half of it when I use it but I suspect I have less than that as DH tends to have larger meals than me.

I think I'll have to try adding it the next time I do a casserole to liven it up a bit, although I do sometimes add it when I do a tray bake and it works quite well in that as well.

Having said that's what we're having tonight I've made a change to our dinner tonight as I don't want a rice overload! so we'll be having shepherds pie tonight and we'll have the Spanish rice tomorrow.

Do you do anything to the pepper, onion and mushrooms before adding them or do they go on raw, and if raw, does grilling until the cheese has melted cook them sufficiently? (I avoid eating raw onion as it upsets my stomach.)

    LL :)

I added them raw, but i was doing mine in the oven so they would have cooked slightly more than under the grill..

I know with the pizza toasts that the pepper and onion don't really get cooked at all because the cheese protects them, they just warm through a bit.. might be best for you to cook your onions first, it they caramelised in the pan they'd add a lovely flavour  or just zap them in the microwave for a bit :D

I always zap my onions in the microwave first it saves so much time and Frylight waiting fro them to soften on the hob. I add a splash of water and then if I'm needing stock or gravy for the recipe I strain the 'onion water' into that for extra flavour.

My casserole left overs where lush. I think stews and casseroles taste better the next day after marinating.

I thought you'd enjoy your soup lantanna. If it had BNS in it, it had to be good;).

CP, do you have any Speed veg to go with your tea? A carrot perhaps?:)

I wish.... However I have issues with food and don't eat any vegetables apart from peas, beetroot and onion. I've tried so hard, but I just can't bring myself to eating it. Not sure if i've explained before but I spend a lot of my childhood in hospital being forced to eat or else I couldn't go home. It has truly scared me. And i know how stupid it is! :rotfl:

I think thats where my binge eating stems from. I used to eat whatever treats people brought me into hospital so quick so I wouldn't be hungry. It wouldn't happen in this day and age, but 20/30 years ago they got away with a lot. I'm not saying all doctors and nurses were like this, but its the bad ones that stick in my mind as a child. I was sooo thin too because of all of my health issues.... Shame i got stuck with food issues instead of thin issues! Lol!

When I binge now, I can eat 10 bars of chocolate, 10 packs of crisps and a load of biscuits and I don't even feel sick. Thankfully, its only a few times a month now. Not a daily thing :rotfl:

Of course, you did tell us and I'm so sorry I forgot:o.

Not sure if you read my post a few weeks back when my consultant told the group that she eats no veg at all. Hers is a similar issue but it was her mother that forced her as a child. Anyway. the good part is that she's lost loads of weight including baby weight from the 3 children she's had in the 5 years I've known her and she looks great. What she does is makes sure she buys in all the Speed fruit she likes every week. Her tip was to eat a bowl of fruit before her meals which apparently helps her with carb overload. I'm not sure how I'd feel about eating sweet before savoury but it works for her.

Do you like berries? A bowl of those with some FF yogurt and some sweetner if you like is yum.
