  • Afternoon all! Dolly, well done on having your budget ready already :)Calling, £15 a month is a great saving - think what you can do with £180 a year! TOG, I hope the funeral goes as well as it can do.
Boss told us to go home early today (no specific reason, just not a lot on and it's miserable weather here) so I'm curled up on the sofa with some onion rings that I've just finished cooking for my lunch :) last night's tea was interesting as I had a friend round, it was sweet potato in teriyaki sauce, with cauliflower rice (put cauliflower in a blender for a few seconds, then dry fry with some garlic and ginger - took a while to properly "crisp up" but it was lush!).
Amazed at how much I've managed to save this month, but probably because (apart from the hen do) I've not done very much. Next month is the wedding of said hen do, and Halloween (my favourite!) so might be a little bit more spendy. Get paid next Tuesday, so already thinking about what I want to do and how I'll split the money up.
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Dolly - No Im still as big as an elephant :) Thanks for noticing I was absent though. I have been working a lot, I worked all through last week, then the weekend & straight into this one. We had an art trail on so I agreed to open for the weekend too, which was good for trade, but I've felt the damage on me. 2 days now till I stop for the weekend, cannot wait!
Thank you for being our host for October, I will be very excited to see what you challenge us too!

TOG - Very sorry to hear about your former friends baby. That is very very sad. I cant imagine why anyone would want to stab you in the back though, you always sound very lovely.

Welshkitty - My tenant has lived in the flat for 7 years now. I live in dread that she will ever leave, so I sympathise! How are you going to go about filling the vacancy? Do you use an agent or leave it to Gumtree etc?

Calling - Well done on your saving on the energy tarrifs.

Fmess - Sorry to hear work will be getting more stressful for you. Also eek to the scary spider stories of you & Academia yesterday!

MissTara -You will still have exceeded the Turtle SFD target for this month if not your own :)

    Thrifty - Happy anniversary btw!

So, have been a little frustrated because none of the earning opportunities that I mentioned earlier in the month, have actually come off. I didnt hear from either of the market research companies in the end, so thats £200 I wont have to play with. But its just one of those things. So Im a bit stuck on my stretch target for this month, & after last months progress feel a bit peeved. But thats life. And this is a marathon not a sprint.
I still have the rent break coming up, & a few other bits in the pipeline so may well still kick debts butt by December 31st :)

Right well, sorry again for not posting for a few days, its all been a bit full on!

We are planning a nice day out this sunday, as it may well be the last weekend of just the 3 of us (eek!) son is studying the Great Fire of London for his history project this term, so we are going to take a train into town & do the Monument, Museum of London, & if time/energy allows pay a trip to China Town (that bit is just about greed, not history) I have already done the Monument, & would be unable to at the moment anyway so I will just stay downstairs and hold the coats whilst they do that one, but as there is a Waitrose about 2 mins waddle from there I may go & nab a free coffee whilst they are climbing. I am really really looking forward to making some memories with my lovely family, & hope the weather will be kind to us.

    Night all

    Bob!

  • Hi Bob - I too was wondering where you were and if baby bob was ok. Good to hear from you. Dd did the great fire last year and I went on the school trip. Pudding lane was a non-event - we'd gone earlier in the year to see it and knew it was covered in scaffolding - but dd enjoyed the monument. And a visit to the fire museum.

Are there still a whole 7 days left in September??! It seems to be going on for ever...

Thanks for your well wishes regarding work. apple we have a new head who has lots of great ideas that we love but so far his personality and approach has upset every member of staff he's met. I'm avoiding him like the plague!

Spend day today as needed more cat food. Really tired and think I've got a virus as I ache all over and have a very sore throat and my ears feel weird. Off to bed to try and sleep it off!

Bob - you must be shattered, you never stop. Your day out sounds lovely.

It is raining here and I got wet on the school run so I am having a hot cuppa to warm up. Had to argue with DD to get her to put her coat on over her uniform, but then again I have to argue with DD over everything.

I saved £3 from this months grocery budget to tide me over until the new budget starts on Saturday and so far I have spent 37p so I am very pleased with that.

DS's school is having a McMillan coffee morning tomorrow, I am not baking anything this time and am not sure if I will be going but will give DS 50p to get a drink and a cake.

  • Good morning!

Full of the lurgy but rather upbeat nonetheless. Got the calendar yesterday from DS' nursery detailing the billing (4/5 week month, funding days etc) so will rejig my budgets today as my calculations were wrong. That means Oct will be cheaper but November a bit more expensive. Looking fwd to October and taking control again.

    See ya later

That's what I love about the monthly challenges - repeated chances to take control. And feel in control.
