  • I really think that is such an important truth about both paying off debts and saving money. It is annoying it is a supermarket slogan but every little does help. Things like the Virtual Sealed pot and the actual Sealed pot challenges have bailed me out a few times!

Any how stay ahead of the snowball ;)

:rotfl: That snowball will get smaller as time goes on you just wait and see :rotfl:

I know I sound so excited over small details but I can see my overall target reducing already. :j It is helping me so much and willing me to keep going.

The fact that I am managing to have an Emergency fund (which I am quite protective of) and a sealed pot that I am saving in as well has helped enormously.

I managed to do Christmas without CCs, the first time in a very long time and I haven't used them for months. Pat on the back for me :rotfl:

I already have some money left in my snowball account as I call it, ready for January's payments. I will keep adding to it ready for the CC statements to drop in again. :T

This is all thanks to you lovely lot on here helping me to see the error of my ways and showing me that budgeting and planning will eventually get me to my ultimate goal :A

    Thank you all

  • :hello: Hi Everybody

Still cant believe Christmas has been and gone already. I know I am a humbug but my tree is all packed away ready for next year.

Got fed up of the lack of space and to be honest the run up to Christmas with OH was a little stressful if I'm honest :(

BUT he had no beer for about 2/3 days before Christmas and only had 2 drinks on Christmas day with DS and has not touched a drop since. He has been like a different man :)

He went to his appointment and said that the lady was very helpful and supportive. He has another appointment in 2 weeks time. He was even given a free 3 month subscription to the local leisure centre to use all of their facilities. Gym,Swimming even Zumba classes :D (we had a chuckle at this one) The subscription will continue as long as he stays on the wagon and attends his appointments etc.

I will need to think about joining him as I could certainly do with it. Maybe its something we could do together. Me and him doing Zumba :rotfl: (stock up on the Tena lady)

Amazingly he has lost over a stone in weight. I think its a mixture of stress and no beer. When he drinks he eats like there's no tomorrow but he hasn't been doing that so a bonus there. :T (Food shopping bill will go down again) :rotfl:

As for New Years Eve we don't have anything exciting planned, I think it will be a quiet one and see the new year in at home.
DS and DD are off out partying so will probably be woken up with singing when they crawl home in the early hours

I am proud to say I have managed to survive Christmas financially and have still made overpayments to my target CC Its coming down gradually. I have even been saving too :j

Hope everyone is well and happy

So I have been having a think about 2016 and how well I will be able to do debt wise. Decreasing not increasing. :T

My 2016 12 Month Challenge plans are:

    • Clear target CC by June/July :D
    • Reduce debt total by £9000 in 12 months
(hoping so much to be under the £20.000)

    • Continue with my sealed pot challenge for Christmas 2016 :)
    • Pay car insurance outright from my EF :j
    • Keep adding small amounts to my EF :D
    • Keep on top of Meal planning :)

Maybe I am being too optimistic with these figures, I don't know. I feel like its achievable. Am I trying to run before I can walk ? We'll see

Budgeting + being money savvy = Reduce debt :j

Wish me luck I'm gonna need it

  • Hi everyone on this very last day of the year  How quick has this year gone.

I suppose I am a little happy that its going as I am looking forward to a real debt busting challenge in 2016

However 2015 gave me my long overdue LBM :) That's one bonus of it I suppose. I have not looked back since and I have no intentions of doing so from now on.

OH got paid today because of New Years Day tomorrow so I have done my weekly budget and my shopping. I have even made 2 payments this week to my target CC :j This brings my overall total down again :T

Happy New Year to everyone and I truly hope it is a good one for you all. :D

Thanks lovely..it is so addictive this getting rid of the debt isn't it. I'm dying to find another £70 to chop off my total to get to a round £2,500 it feels like 5 mins ago I was just tipping under £5k. It does go faster as the debt drops.
    Have a wonderful NYE.
