Hi all
I feel I need to keep a diary to keep me on track to my goal. A little background info: Married for many years,2 grown up children(still at home, they've had it too good here)
Lots of debt and nothing to show for it

Anyway now I look forward not back.

I hope I will find it easier if I write a diary and keep track of everything we do with our money. (or someone else's money if my CCs are anything to go by)

I have been here before and totally fell off the debt busting wagon. Enough is enough now.

Good luck all and me
LBM August 2015 Credit Cards = £33,195.55

Actually rummaged through 2 freezers this morning cant believe I found dinners for about a week. Just shows how I am wasting money. I would have normally gone to the shops and bought more food.

Went to the corner shop just for bread and would have usually bought 2 £2 scratch cards (in the hope I win big) :(

I bought a £1 one and won £10. Instead of swapping it for more cards I brought it home and will pay that off my CC. I have joined challenges and have already paid £29 to debt. Only a small amount I know but it all helps eh.

I am also waiting for September to come in the hope I will be offered 0% deals on CCs so I can do some shuffling around and get a couple closed down.:)

Lots of housework to get through. Raining here so better off in doors today.

Have a good debt busting day all.

  • Its my sons pay day so instead of giving me my housekeeping money he has sent it straight through to my account. Having the money in my purse means it just dwindles away.

I am waiting for tomorrow as OH gets paid weekly. I can then transfer a little each week into my snowball account as I call it. Also when I get paid in 2 weeks I will transfer some more. Daughters pay day also looms so a little more there.

The plan is to put as much as possible into this account and then when my CC statements arrive I will have the funds to service my snowball calculator payments. This will enable me to chip away at my debt and aim for my debt free day :T

    This debt busting is addictive

Good luck with paying down your debt.

On the mortgage free board there is a lady called Tilly who rounds all her accounts down and uses them to pay bits off her mortgage - known on there as Tilly Tidies (TTs).

I find it a great idea and all those little bits, be they a couple of pounds or a couple of coppers all help. Might you find that a good way to increase the level of your Snowball account? You can do it daily, weekly or monthly depending on the way you work your budgets. I used to do it daily before I retired but now only doing it monthly as not as much free money although only have the mortgage to pay off now and that should be gone in about 9 months!

  • Hi joedenise and thank you

I have just thought about what you were saying about adding small amounts from rounding down my account to my snowball account.
This sound a good idea and I think I will get more satisfaction when I pay my snowball payments in September.
I cant actually wait for September now as I am itching to get started.on my snowball.
I was also wondering whether to ring one of my CCs to see if they will offer me a 0% deal its currently £188.00/9000 so quite a large amount to play around with. This would enable me to close 2 cards possibly 3 down. I am actually frightened of making things worse.

Well done on doing so well yourself though good luck with becoming mortgage free aswell

I will definitely be looking up Tilly

    Thank you again
