To say they're used as rep mobiles (mind only the entry level 318d/320d are used as) only because of badge snobbery is narrow minded.

A 335i M Sport is a completely different animal to a 318d SE. Seems to me you have a chip on your shoulder and either you have never driven a good BMW or you are envious of people who can and won't give the any credit

Sounds a lot like badge snobbery to me. After all... your 347i N Sport plus HD widescreen with Dolby(tm) adaptive cold-forged wheel arches vs your boggo standard 318d SE - it's really just a different badge, same logo at the front on a German Vectra.

Maybe the driver knows the difference.

More nonsense. BMW 3 series have never tried to compete with Mondeos and Vectras. Traditionally, the Merc C class and 3 series have always been in competition, and then Lexus tried competing with the 3 series with the IS200.

Have you ever read the motoring press Raymond?

Really? Have you driven either the 318d SE and the 335i M Sport? If you actually had they will feel and drive like completely different cars.
    Your posts are entirely subjective.

How did they make you feel? Can you describe it for me?

    Never driven them. Only ever briefly drove an E46 M3, a e46 325ci, 318i, e36 318is and 328i and e90 330i.

the 330i felt like it had the most low end torque from all the above, but I never pushed the E46 M3 past 3k rpm to be honest.

So you've never pushed a BMW to its limits yet you keep harping on about the dynamics and why it's a better car than anything else on the road. That interesting.

So up to 3000 revs ie normal road driving what benefits does the M3 have say over a Focus ST or RS?

With your driving experience you aren't qualified to talk about a Sinclair C5.
