WantToBeSE - I know just what you mean about banks closing down, the one we use has also gone and its a 20 min trip to the two nearest ones. I usually draw out £1000 pm for bills and food etc but now have to do it in 4 transactions and its a pain in the butt. Am thinking of changing where we bank but am thinking maybe they will go as well in time.
Spent £17.51 today but this included some things don't usually buy as we have an overnight guest on Monday who will only eat certain things!!! No dietary reason just plain fussy
Had a lovely lunch of left overs today - rice with onions, celery and some Cajun chicken bits in it then had a salad of tomatoes, radish and pomegranate with it. Odd but really nice and surprisingly filling healthy as well.
It's annoying isn't it Billie-Jo. I was going to switch to Lloyds which has a small branch in the village, but now there is a sign up in their window saying they are only going to be opening 2 days a week! Then that'll be it, no banks in town.
Anyway, i have decided to just presume that i have £80 left and go from there.0 -
Our local bank is going to close as well - and it's the only one in our small town. Isn't it frustrating?!
I have been doing our finances today and realised that I only have £100 left of our £400 budget for the month. Oops! However I did a big after-holiday online shop and stocked up on things like washing powder and toilet roll, and I have done a bulk order for things like 5kg rice, tea, pasta and other dry goods and toiletries. My daughter and I have very dry, sensitive skin so buy no-chemicals shampoo and shower gel which helps.
So I have just got a piece of paper out to plan meals for the rest of the month (tend to do two weeks at a time before I get distracted! :rotfl:).
Will update my signature and get my thinking cap on. I did a freezer inventory the other day (first time for years!) and stores are quite full so with a fair wind.....
Congrats to everyone who is doing better than me - er, that's probably all of you! :T

Pleased to say I'm doing OK at the moment, total of £118.23 spent so far including a big stock up shop last weekend.
Need to get salad bits, potatoes, bread and milk this week plus trip to the butchers. Have got general idea of meals for the week.
Do need to get both freezers defrosted and tidied so easier to keep stock list up to date.
Am working on getting things under control this month, it's helping that DH is in agreement about not buying the junk so once what is already in the cupboard is gone it won't be replaced.
Keep working on it.0 -
I haven't managed to post much this month, but have been tracking my spends on YNAB. I'm trying to save as many pennies as possible in preparation for a house move in the next few months.
I've just read back a little and it's nice to see people doing so well.I'm sorry to hear about your freezer, miss try to save!
My spends so far this month are £188.51/£350, so I have £161.49 left for the rest of the month.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Stupidly expensive weekend as skids were here and DH goes mad with treating them
Extra spends totalling £54.91 taking our total to £188.18/£350 (£161.82 left until the end of September and it's my birthday next week, so I expect we will have a meal out - gonna be tight this month!)0 -
Friday I did some food shopping in Asda & Iceland, spent a bit more than I wanted but they had the pies my hubby & son have in their packed lunches in the reduced section, so I suppose I have saved money in the long run.
I was hoping that Saturday & Sunday would be NSD's but we went out and ended up eating out, already half way through the month and I think my NSD challenge maybe jeopardised.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0
