please note ,all those who mention pen and paper, were all men, who's wives and mothers obviously do the vast majority of their shopping for them, otherwise, they would realise what a huge pain it would be to keep note of everything,it doesn't work like that in our house,my hubby has to buy his own birthday gifts, cards, clothes ,work lunches,as well as lots of other things inc food shopping, and things the kids need.you are a pampered lot.0

Theres a slight....well ok, I was being nice, MASSIVE flaw in your judgement of at least me there.
I'm 26, live on my own, in my own house. I have a mortgage, my parents are hundreds of miles away, I do all my own shopping, pay all my own bills, out of my own wages (I amazingly fit going to work 5 days a week into it all too to pay for all this).
I have 2 direct debits set up. The rest of my bills I pay when I recieve either a paper or online bill.
Sure I don't have kids, but thats my choice, and I aint blaming anyone else for that
So yer, I buy all my groceries, clothes, lunches etc, all on my own....clever aint I! :T
The only problem with all that is that I can't moan if I mess everything up myself. I have no one to point the finger at and say 'thats not faiiiiirrrrr'. Only myself.0 -
I think your being a little patronising here Graham...to say the least..however there is one little thing you yourself must remember, us/these people are not fighting about being charged we/they have basically been told that under the UTCC they are paying more than they should be and if so many firms have paid out of court settlements to many claimants then why shouldnt others follow suit...there was one challenger in all this that won his right after he realised the law and this was the first man to successfully claim from his bank as they had no argument..your point is: ok so the banks may be forced to drop the charges and many will say...oh it doesnt matter we only get charged £12 we can afford that now and on that note I totally agree with you and I cannot after reading your many posts disagree with your argument. It was because of one little man that this mass litigation protest has come about...so can you really blame them!0

I'm only playing the patronising game due to the comments. I'm very open to discussion.
Being told I'm pampered etc just cus I can look after my finances is slightly patronising to say the least0 -

The bank don't let them, which is why your charged0 -

So you would prefer that the bank simply said no, and you had your electric cut off, you had fines from the council for not paying your council tax? You had your goods taken away from your home and reposssed? You couldn't buy your medication from the pharmacy for your kids because the bank say 'sorry, no, tough luck'.
You want to have your home taken away from you because the rent or mortgage was not paid, because the bank declined it?
Erm ok. If thats what you would prefer, then I'm happy with that theory, but I can see the solicitors jumping in and TV ad's just full of compo claims because the big bad bank can never ever do right and it's never your own fault.
Then the bank come round your house and sieze goods to the amount of your outstanding overdraft?0 -

I'm not basing it on ignorance. If your gonna say you would talk to your suppliers. Look at your balance and talk too them BEFORE they take the Direct Debit and then you wont be charged (so long as they agree and you have a good standing with them).
Or simply pay manually.0
