whilst my hubby was still disputing with his bank over charges he found his electron user guide, which does not mention anything about charges, or delayed earmarking of funds from your account, infact not on statements, internet banking or cashmachines or anywhere does it say please be aware, it may take anything up to five days for transactions to show on your account.infact the cashpoint and internet banking says your latest transactions will show on you account.this means you inevitably get charged til you work out whats happening.he is now stuck in the stay at the ombudsman he is going to ask them to investigate this,as a seperate issue to see if this will get things moving again.how can they expect us to pay up at all for charges, when they are at fault,as they are not giving us true information? whats your view?

My view is that your husband needs to invest in a notepad and a pencil so he can write down what he spends, thus ensuring he does not spend what he hasn't got.0

thats kinda, not the point is it?of course we know better now,but we have the right to be informed before getting charged.then at least this would be on our own heads, not of course condoning the price of the charges, but by not giving us all the information ,we where oblivious as to how it was happening for the first few times, then they have the cheek to charge you, when they are giving you this false information0

do you guys work for the bank or something? i don't think it is so obvious, that your balance is not your balance, and that you have still got a packet sandwich and a drink that you bought five days ago still to come out of your bank.which after you have took out ten pound out of the cashpoint sends you £1 over ,then they charge you.after all your latest transactions will show.do you not think we should be warned that they might not show before we get charged?0

I have pencil, and plenty of paper, but sadly am not anal enough to jot down every transaction....:D0

Nothing to do with the bank though. A shop can charge for the item up to 6 years after you bought it, legally.
Banking takes time. Most of us recognise and deal with this. So there is no loophole, there is no great conspiracy.
My council tax which I paid last monday has still not gone out. But I check my bank every day, only take 5 mins, I do it in the morning with a coffee.
If you want to do something about it, pay for everything in cash and not cards and direct debits. Then you know exactly what you have left.0 -

Well if you can't remember what you have spent and are not 'anal' enough to look after yerself, I hope you have not reclaimed charges.0 -
Did I say I couldn't remember what I had spent? And as this is a 'reclaiming bank charges thread' I think people are here for encouragement and advice to help them deal with the situation they have found themselves in (let's not judge why) and not to hear after the horse has fled the stable advice about pencil and paper!0

it's not the big ones like your council tax that go unnoticed it's the ones for only a couple of quid, now thankfully he is using cash more,no charges since claiming, another lesser known fact which is attached to the last, that is until you get charged,is.., when the machine is processing your transaction ,this doesn't mean it has just checked your account for funds in all cases.0
