Hi DNMS. I've just come across your shiny new diary :T

I'm like you I do like other people's diaries but there is only so much 'back reading ' you can do :rotfl: so here is yours on,y 2 pages in and I'm all caught up.

Your money making and foraging sound fab. I love blackberry picking, however, I must confess to not doing it this year as I still have some from last in the freezer :o the problem is the tend to fall into crumbles and other such puddings of loveliness :rotfl:

On the topic of yogurt, the ye0 valley lemon curd one is amazing! But don't buy it it last half as long as normal yogurt :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Yay my very own party going on on my thread :dance:_party_:dance::dance: and I wasn't even here! I was filling in the report for the MS assignment. Honestly the hardest I have ever worked for £7!!!

Bob it was the one with the golden arches. I'm not a fan myself, except for breakfast, and have had 2 over 24 hours! It's been really interesting doing the Msing as you look at things with different eyes and see things I possibly wouldn't have noticed before, particularly staff doing a really good job. Much easier in everyday life to notice bad service.

jonno hi :hello: wise move to get up to speed before the mad rush :p how are your littlies? (wanted to say the other day but couldn't remember if you had 1 or 2? :o

lol to Bob cockney rhyming coconut songs riding around on the cobbled streets of the big smoke! :rotfl:

  • awwwwwww the weekend. Relaxation :D Sun is shining, oh has cut the grass and now we're trying to warm up the massive paddling pool oh got dgd (not really massive but giant in comparison to her baby one she's had up till now). I suspect we are on a losing battle as nothing is warming the pool. I also suspect it would be cheaper to go get a flight to go swimming swimming in the Med than the amount of times I have boiled the kettle and heated up the cauldron

Tonight we go to a oh's cousin's wedding reception, which will be nice to catch up with his family. Am considering driving as it's the other side of the town, we live in a village about 4 miles out of town so taxi will be expensive. We might be able to get a lift/share a cab with his uncle. Will wait and see what will unfold....

Right that's it. Gonna get out in the sunshine and enjoy it while it lasts!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Determined - we made that mistake a few years back and bought a pool so big we could all comfortably sit in it. But we didn't have a hose and it took about 30 buckets to get anywhere close to filling the darned thing. Plus freezing as you say unless you get kettles involved.

Laughing at the cockney thing. I am actually from the shire, & find the god awful grating accent that is indigenous to my adopted area extremely grating. Was in the dreaded golden arches last weekend and nearly choked hearing a tiny girl screeching about wanting the 'tomaaaaao sauce' then in Mr S there was a teen stocking the 'tomaaaaos' god knows what happened to the toe part of the word.

Sounds like mystery shopping is quite hard work for the cash value then. Especially if you don't like where you are eating?

    Hope the barbie is yum!

Hope you enjoy the reception DNMS.

I've got 2 littlies. 5 and 2. Although not so little, they are both very tall and my eldest has no waist making trouser buying interesting :rotfl:

They grow up so quickly though don't they. As for paddling pools I know what you mean. It needs to be ridiculously hot for it to be even vaguely warm no then it's too hot for the little ones to be outside :o have you thought about either one of those bouyuncy vests or wet suit/ sun suit type things for DGD. You can pick them up cheap second hand. They might keep her a bit warmer.

Talking of 2nd hand clothes. Have you heard of NCT nearly new sales. You can get really good bargains (toys and clothes) and also sell your own goods. They just take a %. I sell all my little ones stuff this way and got loads if their stuff form there. Most areas have a sale 2 or 3 times a year. Have a look on their website to find one nearest you. Sorry of you already know and I'm repeating stuff.

    Jonno x
  • Sunshine?! Didn't think that still existed. Been raining here today which is a shame as I wanted to hang my washing out.

Hope you have fun at the reception and let ya hair down x

  • Hi DNMS, hope you have a great time at the wedding reception!

I've just read through your diary and, as everyone's already said, you're doing such an amazing thing for your DGD and DD. It shows just how much you care that not only have you taken DGD in but that you're doing all this research on how to minimise any disruption or upset for her via parenting techniques. I'm sure once she's older she'll treasure all you've done for her.
  • Moooooorrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnning :p feeling a little worse for wear this morning :o

Reception was fun, but it was a bit overwhelming for dgd. She suffers from crippling shyness around adults she doesn't know well and really needs a little time to relax into situations like this. The thing is she's so darn cute, she honestly has this very sweet nature, so everyone wants to make a fuss of her. She then looks deeply uncomfortable and freezes. Poor thing I really hope she grows out of it. We never know if that's just her character or a result of her early experiences.

We stayed for a few hours and left around 11, by this point dgd had relaxed and was enjoying herself dancing, but wanted to come home. Then oh & I decided to open a bottle, sit and chat and have a youtube session. Fun but there was a point around 1 when I knew I was going to regret it in the morning!

I was supposed to be going to the bootfair this morning. But I honestly cba! So think I'll just have another coffee and hope my pep comes back soon :p

Today we are going to a small festival in the next town along. We went a couple of years ago and it was really fun. Very small and family orientated. I've been saving whatever money I've left each week from my £15 a week pocket money for the past 4 weeks for this and have enough for my ticket & train fare and a drink. Mentioned it to oh's df and dm and it looks like they will come too, and also oh's db and dn who are visiting from Scotland for the wedding. Must stick to 1 or 2 drinks as this evening I really need to sort out my job application and list some items on ebay. I have done shockingly at making the most of my 100 free listings :o oh well.....

Right hoping this foggy head will lift any minute :rotfl:

  • She sounds a delightful child and I am sure she will 'grow out' of the shyness. You and your husband are to be greatly admired for what you are doing.

There was a time when my husband and I thought we might well be in a similar situation, but thankfully it soorted itself out and DGD lives with her dad, although she is moving into a flat this week.

Keep up the good work, you are working well with the plan and if you can find a suitable part time job rather than full time. you will all benefit.
