It is quite notable that the big three senior shadow cabinet posts went to white men as well as the leader and deputy leader being white men.

It's rather like the trades unions of the 1970s: blacks and women not welcome, especially not at the top. I suppose he might have got confused and thought Hilary Benn was a woman.

Presumably he thinks this selection of white men are the best people available for the job at the moment? I imagine he thinks that's more important than fulfilling some right on agenda of token led identity politics.

Something Labour have been roundly criticised for, for years, by white men in the right wing wing establishment.

I would imagine they would be pleased. I would think the gentleman's clubs of Westminster would be ringing with the sound of applause, dropped monocles, and shuffled Telegraphs today.

Thoroughly chuffed with the McConnell appointment, he spoke at a rally my Union organised last year. Old School Labour but like Corbyn a decent man.

presumably your definition of a decent man includes showing support for the IRA and not confront them about the deliberate killing of women and children?

Hmmm ... Decent ... Maybe or not. this article casts doubt on his choice of friends. Inevitably such things raise important concerns and stains those around him.

Not good for the ruling clique now in charge of the Labour Party.

So you were no doubt disappointed when the Queen honoured the IRA dead in Dublin and sat down with McGuiness for a State Dinner a few years back?
Let's not forget our future Head of State shaking hands with Adams of course.
Politicians of all colours have offended me over the years.

Here's the Queen apparently being pleased to see McGuinnness.

My speculation is that the large influx of Labour Party Members were left of left wing and this is why Corbyn won. Has anyone seen anything other than speculation on that? I suppose it is too much to expect anything on this from the transmognified Labour Party.

If so I wonder if the Labour Party has changed for good (in whmich case they are off my Xmas List).

Yes, indeed reconciliation is necessary and dealing with opponents is essential.
The IRA are now part of the NI parliament and government.

However, Corbyn choose to associate himself with IRA during the period of the killings and never confronted their killings.

Did you support the IRA with pride during the period of the Birmingham, Warrington, Omagh etc bombings?

Sadly, you seem to show yourself as a fellow traveller and apologist, like a long list of unpleasant socialists over the last 100 years.

So you equate attitudes on this with right or left wing politics? Very strange that.

Anyway - take note of the timing please, Corbyn was associating with these people (friends?) while the killing was going on.
