The election of Corbyn is the first time I've seen real choices become possible in England in decades, and makes our politics interesting.

If reuniting Ireland is interesting. Then God help help us.

What do Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendal, Tristram Hunt, Rachel Reeves and Chris Leslie have in common? Time for a fully-fledged schism do we think?
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Choices that were rejected decades ago as they'd been proven not to work. However, repeat failed experiments enough times and even the hard of thinking will get the message.

Having failed with Ed. The Unions have now backed an even more left of centre leader. Democracy at work. As the Barons impose their will.

This is going to be interesting.

    John McDonnell shadow chancellor
In May 2003, he praised the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), saying,

It's about time we started honouring those people involved in the armed struggle. It was the bombs and bullets and sacrifice made by the likes of Bobby Sands that brought Britain to the negotiating table. The peace we have now is due to the action of the IRA." He later said that the "deaths of innocent civilians in IRA attacks is a real tragedy, but it was as a result of British occupation in Ireland. Because of the bravery of the IRA and people like Bobby Sands we now have a peace process.

Is this new politics? Or simply the opening of old wounds.

I don't know. But Twitter is in complete meltdown over it. That and the lack of women in top jobs so far. One can only assume he hasn't got much in the way of choice ? Surely Labour MP's aren't abandoning him wholesale so quickly given the mandate he got yesterday ?
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

The problem is collective Cabinet responsibility. You can't stand there and claim to support whatever the latest lunatic policy is from Mr Corbyn and then deny supporting it tomorrow. It's going to be a big problem for him.

Scottish Labour will have exactly the opposite problem ( brief nod to the 'other' thread ). However, lets see what happens when the dust settles tomorrow. The new Shadow Chancellor is already in for a HUGE media smearing campaign by the looks of it re the IRA. But there's countering tweets going out about 50/50 gender balance in the shadow cabinet.

It is quite notable that the big three senior shadow cabinet posts went to white men as well as the leader and deputy leader being white men.

It's rather like the trades unions of the 1970s: blacks and women not welcome, especially not at the top. I suppose he might have got confused and thought Hilary Benn was a woman.

in what way is the talk of the IRA a smear campaign?

do you approve of placing bombs in Birmingham pubs, in busy town centres or hotels with the specific aim of killing people?
Do you not expect politicians to condemn this type of behaviour in clear unambiguous terms?
