£29 per month for 200mb and a oomph 5gb sim.

    Happy with that.

Waited for a call back, tried to haggle them down more but he didn't budge although he did suggest  different options & price points he could offer.

100mb alone from threads on hotukdeals is  coming in as low as £12-£14 per month for many.

They must have me down as an absolute mug then. The lowest they would go for me was £42 per month for 100mb.

I've been with them about 20 years and have been paying around £54 per month for the past 3 years. This is for M100 + Phone and I don't use the phone at all. I asked them if they could match Sky at £28 or their own new customer offer at £27, but they wouldn't budge.

  • Virgin Media M100 Fibre broadband + landline expiring next 2 December, was on 18 month promotion at £26/month and moving to £52. which is a crazy amount. Got a deal for another 18 months at 28£ a month, avoiding me the hassle of switching provider.

Just follow the options and eventually there is one "if you are thinking of leaving us, press 4"; 1st operator could only offer £39/month; I politely replied it was too much compared to BT new customer offer (29.99£/month for 150mb Broadband); was passed to a 2nd operator (retention) who quickly offered 28£. Accepted. All done in 10 mins.

Always haggle and never pay full price. Do your research first so you have 1-2 options with other provider if the current one cannot offer a competitive fare. Check on here, Uswitch and other broadband comparison website, but also on the provider website (i.e. BT offer at 29.99 was not included in comparison website where it was at 33-35£ a month).

I've been on M100 with ancient fun tv and landline. Out of contract that's now £59. I've spoken to a few people now and can't get lower than £41pm. I'm happy to ditch the tv as I rarely watch it but they say I'm better off keeping the tv. I've seen a BT deal at £29.99 for full fibre b/b and landline and am tempted but could do without the hassle of changing. If Virgin can offer one person a deal at less than £30 why not another like me who has been with them for over 20 years? I know it's a game they play but I'm tired and just want value for money at the end of the day.

Put your 30 day notice to cancel in.  Make sure in your account preferences they are allowed to contact you and wait for outbound retentions person to call you with an offer. You then will get a similar price, it’s a game like you say, but you need to play it to get the best prices.  The fact you been with them so long will help.  As a guide I pay less than that and have bigger bundle plus sports in Hd and 200mb internet.
  • Called 150. When to through leaving us options. Just asked nicely that my contact is ending and about saving some money. (I don't think it was retentions team) Had about 32 days left on my contract

Was on £35.00 (going up £70+ in Jan)
100gb BB, Landline with talk weekend, 360 Box with Drama package, SIM  (I don't really watch drama channels or use the SIM)

    New £30.00 for 18months
100gb BB, Landline with talk weekend, 360 Box just normal channels
Same package is the website as winter deal for £29.99

I didn't need to haggle just ask for same as the website

I do pretty much the same every year, but always arm myself with whatever the competition is offering to use during negotiations. I too got a new 18 month contract this year. Figured that's what they're getting customers onto now.
Didn't get the best deal people report, but it was OK for my needs and at least I don't have to threaten to leave again for 18 months!

I was out of contract, paying £94.50 for 200meg BB, Full House/Maxit TV, 2 TV boxes and weekend calls. Asked nicely for a better price. After a bit of back and forth on options, I'm now paying £76 for 350meg BB, same tv and phone, but only 1 TV box. Saved £222/yr.

I think I could have pushed harder but happy to get the faster BB (both wife and I WFH pretty much full time) with a lower price.

The Bigger package which is pretty much what you have is currently £45 with 100mb broadband. I believe another £12 for 350mb (£6 per tier), so £57 for a new customer. You are paying around £19 per month more than a new customer (not including account credit), but should hopefully expect to get it for even less than £57. So long as you are happy then that is what counts, and definitely a saving on their ridiculous rrp. But they are not really giving you a good enough loyalty discount for staying.

We are currently paying £45 for what you now have (but upgraded to 500mb due to O2 Volt), and will be putting in notice because of the price rise to hopefully secure a better deal. As you will now be on a new contract you will have a right to cancel (14 days cooling off), so perhaps worth another call, putting in your notice then waiting for a call from outbound retentions team who may be able to give you a better discount. As you will have read on here and elsewhere, it is the outbound team who can give the best deals.
