My plusnet 18 month unlimited broadband contract which i took last year May is ending 12months this may. I paid the line rental upfront which was a good saving.
My question is after 10May, I will be paying for both broadband and line rental which comes upto £27 PM. I called the customer service and they told me to call them 3 months before the contract end( Nov 2016). I don't want to pay extra if there are good packages out there.
Has anyone been in this position. I'm confused as to whether to stay or move out of the provider. Please help. TIA.0 -
If you cancel or swap ISP you will need to pay off your remaining broadband contract .
May 2016 will leave you 6 months of BB contract to pay off to leave your contract .Line rental will change from May 2016 to monthly payment normal price . If you renewed advanced line rental then you will be out of sync as your BB ends in 6 months and a move then will lose remaining months of advanced line rental .0 -
Called last week, said I was thinking of moving elsewhere. Only took a couple of minutes and got free BB for 18mths. I had to take out a new contract. well chuffed:j

renewed my contract, bloke on the phone was pleasant... agreed to a 24 month contract with a £4 discount a month for the length of the contract and a new supposedly worth £100 hub as old kit was obsolete... he also explained that if i was to move house during the contract then transferring everything would be free
might not be a massive saving but not too shabby i think
very nice moneysaver! i wish i could've done that but i'm not brave enough to threaten to leave, plusnet in my eyes is currently the best ISP around, for numerous reasons...0 -
Called today was paying 9.99 mo BB and line rental 16.99 they changed to 2.50 for BB. Could maybe have haggled for lower but I was happy enough, 12 mo contract also. Nice bloke. 5 min call.0

Called the other day and nice bloke offered me £2.50 for 12 or 18 months broadband.. told them i'd think about it.. however today tried calling to haggle a little but the bloke straight up refused to beat that offer his colleague offered and I asked to put me through to retention line.. but he said I am speaking to retention line to my amazement, he was not budging on any offers... I even mentioned competitors who offer cashback and everything and told him about MSE forum/website etc etc..
Told me he 'honestly' cannot better the offer when i asked about their free 12 or 18 m broadband plan going on right now
wth?
Phone line i called was 0800 013 2632 option 1 > option 20 -
You might need to be firm & call their bluff. If not £2.50 is not too bad a deal though.

Was paying £16.99 a month for standard BB. Phoned Plusnet and used the recent BT fibre offer as leverage. Now going to be paying £11.99 a month for fibre.
It's an 18 month contract, and technically a smidge more expensive than the BT offer, but as we'd prepaid the phone line up until December it worked out better for us. They also waived the delivery charge for a new router.
We've been thinking about getting fibre since the option came to our village a few weeks ago, but getting it cheaper than we were paying for standard is amazing. Can't believe we've never haggled with them before- been paying that for years!
Also I should say that it was all very nice and friendly, and not at all confrontational.0 -
Just to add my own experience with plusnet.
Have been with them for three years, usually happy with the deals they offer, general service provision.
However, their retention offers this year have been well off the mark in comparison to what new customers are getting. Almost offensively so!
On talking twice to retentions, they specifically said that they have been told not to price match. They even acknowledged that talktalk and sky were doing significantly better deals.
So, in essence, don't expect to get anything better than the package you're on at the moment (for ADSL broadband at least).0
