In a couple of months my first years broadband deal with Plusnet will come to an end.
I already have had a email from them about renewing my Line Rental Saver before the contract end but when do they also contact you about the new contract?
I don't think they will contact yourself, they introduced this from the 8th of August last year so it looks like you're a bit short of that date:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/08/plusnet-becomes-first-broadband-provider-to-introduce-end-of-contract-reminders/If you sign up for one of Plusnet's Copper, Fibre and Fibre Extra broadband packages (or have signed up since yesterday (08/08/18)), you will be automatically contacted by text, email or a phone call, depending on how you requested to be contacted, when your contract is coming to an end.
The exact time that the notifications will be sent is yet to be decided, but Plusnet says it will be in the last few months of customers' contracts. We've asked for more detail but Plusnet says it can't give us any at the moment.
You will also be offered a personal account review, which will assess how you use your broadband and what you need from a package. Plusnet says this will help customers choose the right package and ensure they're not overpaying for services they don't need.

£40 a month down to £26 a month for the unlimited fibre extra, initial offer was down to £33 a month but said i would switch to talktalks £25 package and they price matched down to £26. well worth the call0

tried to renew my broadband, could only offer 4 pound a month excluding line rental for regular 10mb. Said I would switch and the call handler put the phone down lol. Thought Plusnet were better for service. oh well."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Had some success with Plusnet tonight. I called retentions again to discuss offers. I was originally offered Unlimited Fibre for £23.49 a month for 18 months or £27.49 a month for 18 months. I said to the advisor that new customers can get the same pricing for 12 months. After he had a quick chat with his manager he then said he can offer the same prices for 12 months. So I've gone for Unlimited Fibre Extra at £27.49 a month for 12 months. But, now I'm having second thoughts. Would 18 months be better?0

Last time I talked them into giving me a 12month contract, as I like to use line rental savers which only run for 12months.
On an 18month contract you have to either pay full line price for 6 months or pay upfront after 12 months, meaning you lose bargaining power at the end of the 18 month contract as you have paid for another 6 months ahead.
I will have to pay the extra £1 increase on my renewal though, but I think the prepay method saves more than £1 a month.0 -
Plusnet wouldn't deal, wouldn't even upgrade me to the new customer deal posted on MSE £18.99 for 36 meg BB + line rental, so it's bye bye Plusnet. I would have preferred not to change but they were being very obstinent!0

With a little bit of haggling I've just renewed for 12 months at £17.00 a month, which includes line rental.
Unlimited Standard Broadband
With Line Rental
I'm only on snail broadband as there is no fibre here, despite being in a city
I asked if I could pay for Line Rental annually as this would have normally saved a bit, but this was met with a no. Which you can't blame them for.
I've found this year there have not been as many deals as previous years.MFW 1% Challenge 2019 - £2,383.44/£1,530 1.56%
MFW 1% Challenge 2020 - £5,650.46/£1,455 4.00%0
