Kev think i heard you mention else where you use mobile phone. If you have BT broadband you can get a substantial discount which starts £5 per month.
ie i have sim only £10 but pay £5 and out of contract, its still honoured.
Of course theres other plans its just a heads up.
Personally you have no bargaining power until contract has ended but think they would allow a new contract with additions, try that.0 -
Hi, thanks @hareng. My existing mobile phone contract is up December and I can upgrade etc from Nov so I'll have a look at BT but on last look, they couldn't match what I get from 3 and i am only paying £9 a month at present and I see 3 are doing the same package but with 8GB now for £9 so my plan was to renew with 3 and get on the 8GB plan just because its the same price as i pay now and i haven't seen anything to make me switch elsewhere so far. I currently have 4GB and at time i can get close to that limit but most months i don't as i'm on wifi mostly but sometimes if i do a big update off wifi (sometimes my phone decides to do it on my way to work for example) then i can get close to 4GB but it is rare as mentioned and 8GB would simply give me a nice cushion of space should i need it any time. Ideally i'd like to pay less than £9 but not seen anything tempting so far.

I pay a net equivalent of £5.83/month on BT PAYG for unlimited calls and texts and 3Gb data. Just right for me.0

I was to leave BT as I'd been paying £56 a month for BB and Calls, I signed up with Vodafone at £21 PCM for two years even though I know their support and customer service is dire, low and behold BT retentions rings me and a very nice chap has signed me up for £19.99 PCM for 18 months all in.
This is the same package BT workers get - and although I nearly didn't take it having been ripped off of £30 a month the last few years I cancelled with Vodafone - (which was an interesting experience!). At the end of the day BT are a top notch telecoms co and their customer service I find to be excellent - other than having to leave to get a superb 'rejoin' offer.
I'm thinking I should have just rung BT and armed myself with my Vodafone £21 offer and asked them to best it?0 -

Yes thats the way to do it .0 -
Thanks Markothegreat, i'll try that in May, i'll check the best deals and then phone BT and see what they can do. I might even try in November and see what they offer when my linerental saver is up, they might be willing to re-sign me up on a better package to get the annual line rental saver money upfront. If not, i'll just pay the line rental monthly until May and then phone them back and see what they offer.

My contract is up in March. Worth calling now to negotiate a new deal? Currently paying £29.99 for Superfast Fibre up to 52mbps.0

You can try but you have no leverage now .As threatning to leave will cost you .0

I've been with BT a longtime was paying £86 a month for Superfast fibre 1 , entertainment package and BT Sport. Rang up and said I was thinking of leaving, they say they would bring it down to £63.99. So I talked to Virgin, got same package for £50 and initiated switch. Just had call from BT retentions offering exactly what I had for £38.44 for 6 months and then £44.99 for remaining 6 months. Said I had to think about it.
I am SO CROSS that I had to initiate a switch before getting a better deal. The bloody hours I've wasted on this. It happens on everything, insurance, TV, phone, anything yearly renewable. It does my head in. I hate capitalism and human greed (ok slight exageration but it is annoying).0 -
Was paying £50pm for SF Fibre 1 unlimited. free weekend calls, line rental and free BT Sports 1 (which I only ever watch if they are showing hockey).
Called and told them it was too expensive and what can they offer me. (Also about 4 months out of contract btw). Was asked if I had seen any offers I was interested in, and I said no, but Virgin had been bombarding me to sign up. He asked how much and I made up a number.
Anyway, chappie offered me £27.99 a month. Free anytime calls to landline and mobile, kept BT Sports, and there was some other financial incentive for if the speed drops.
I am happy with that. I have almost halved my bill, and I get to keep my service that I love.0
