BJonesy - nothing special I'm afraid - stories of 75% off are common again.

From his post I assumed he was treated as a returning customer -surely if a new customer he would have had SkyQ installed and a new dish ??

Also as a new codtoner you would want to compare to offers available including Quidco or TCB for cashback and take up one of their £100 giftcards/free TV etc. New customer offers through CPW Curry's may be worth considering too.

Not if the 'years ago' really was years ago and isn't an exaggeration.

Sky have probably given up on persuading the OP to return so his account (if it still exists) probably has no offers on it. Plus if the OP needs new equipment, then the 75% is much harder to get even as an existing customer.

It probably (almost definitely) is Sky Q they are getting as you say, but the OP mentions it hasn't been installed yet so they could cancel if needed.

I think 50% off the package for a new customer is pretty good. I'd probably have another go at trying to get the half price on multiroom as well but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if I couldn't get it.

    Hi everyone,

I've just recently joined Sky after having left them years ago due to their ever increasing prices.

However, after having luckily came across a post on the MSE forum about haggling a deal with Sky (Something I had never done in my previous years as a customer) I decided to give it a go and join up.

I just wanted to check in with you guys, as I still have 12 days before it is installed, and tell you what deal and package I got.

So after a 40-45 min phone call, I managed to walk away with 50% off my TV package which consists of the Box sets package, Sky cinema, Sky Sports HD and multi-room, all for £52 p/m.

Though I got 50%, it doesn't exactly work out that, as I was told that offer didn't apply to multiroom, and in the end I just accepted it as I felt I couldn't bring them down any further.

So, guys and girls, what did you guys manage to get yourselves and what do you reckon of what I got offered? A genuine deal or nothing special?
The following is the online cost for a new customer (plus a measly £25 credit card so a couple of quid off the £86 a month). If they're fitting a new Q system for you then it's not a bad deal at all but in the end it's what you're comfortable with, not anyone else.

    Monthly cost

    £86
    18 month minimum subscriptions.
    • Sky Q£74
      • Box Sets

      • Sky Cinema
Comes with a reward, which you can choose in the next step
    • Sky Q Multiscreen Pack£12
    • Total monthly cost £86 18 month minimum subscriptions.

    One-off cost

    £15
    • Sky Q 1TB box Install Fee£15Payable now
    • Total one-off cost £15

    Equipment

    No cost

...until BJonesy returns it'll all be speculation:)
  • Hi, looking for some advice.

I am moving home soon and will come to the end of my sky contract before I move, I previously had a 50% off offer for past 18 months.

I have sky HD, sports & multiroom.

I also have virgin broadband & phoneline (the sky/Bt internet in my area is excruciatingly bad - less than 5MB!) My virgin is also out of contract and they have been ringing me with daft offers.

My preference is sky for everything at my new property, how would I go about negotiating the best offer - obviously I would need to call and disconnect but should I get both transferred to the new property first before I start negotiating?!

First off, is the Sky BB acceptable at the new property? If so then talk to Sky and explain you're moving (I wouldn't give them an address just yet if possible) and see what they can do for you in terms of both existing package and the costs of moving everything.

I would be surprised if taking your Virgin with you doesn't tie you into a new long term contract, not to mention their moving costs.

    Hi-I'll be brief.

Accepted a new offer on 4/4-see my previous post dated 4/4 on olod haggle thread--£33 after £50 bill credit give or take a few pence for Original TV, new install of unlimited fibre, pay as you go phone, line rental inc in £33. 12 month contract.

Was going to do BT at £32 a month with TV as has a great bolt on for HD -just on a monthly basis for £3 ish. Since accepting the offer-& fibre due live on 18/4-I've had technicians round to sort out record/loss of signal issues. Again-see my recent post. Upshot is a GREATLY improved HD & SD pic on my 1080p Toshiba. Partners been in hospital & was very much looking forward to HD recordings-most did not work due to signal loss.

Spoke to a very helpfull lady at Sky-gave box sets (as wanted more HD to try & also on catch up can download in HD-not so on many channels in original package-to replace recordings for G/F that did not work)-try for 1 month-she's set to cancel it on 10/5 if I don't call back (other deal unchanged). £30 bill credit given to cover this & an extra tenner ....then +£20 a month (which I really really don't think we can afford)....& I have a brand new UHD TV waiting to go in when fibre done on 18/4 that should display the better HD pics brilliantly!

If I were to cancel within 31 day package (obviously wait until fibre installed)...2 questions-1)-would they straight away revert me back to old crappy broadband or do they have to wait until my notice period is up & 2)-would they offer a better deal?

Whilst I'm pleased wih the service etc & price (1/2 what a new customer would get from sky site!) I had no idea that HD would improve SO MUCH after repair & feel more HD channels would be better-if I'd have known of the improvement I would have taken a different tac or gone BT infinity with optional HD bolt on at £32 pcm. Any ideas people?
