  • Apologies to admin for a double post as I fed this back on a different thread in response to a different question but thought I'd get other responses in here:

I've just called and cancelled. The deals the nice lad tried to offer just didn't drop enough - he was trying to be helpful by the sounds of it, approx 35% off, equating to £33.79 but I need to get it down cheaper than that. I'm not too fussed about the TV so might need to go to a separate internet provider.

If they come back with another offer, where would I see it? Will it be an email?

Check the Services menu (My account) on your Sky box. Alternatively, check the Sky website (you'll need to go to Shop > Left Sky in the last 12 months? Be sure to check he home page too as sometimes you will see one discount in one place and another rate elsewhere.

Sky will probably attempt to call you too.

I am coming to the end of my 12 month contract so will shortly be haggling...maybe tomorrow if I have the time. A question came to me regarding the SkyQ boxes (...I have the Sky+HD box at present). I have a lot of recordings yet to watch on my planner so any offer of a SkyQ box would not be welcomed...for those guys haggling who already have SkyQ boxes, how do you factor this in? I'm presuming that if you go ahead and cancel a SkyQ contract they will require you to send the box back to them as, unlike the previous boxes, it is never yours to keep (...unless this has changed recently). Therefore, all your recordings would be lost forever...is that right? It may be best that I hang onto my current box as, even if I have to go ahead and cancel, once activated again at some point in the future, my recordings will still be accessible.

Can you run SkyQ in tandem with a Sky+HD box?

...I want a really good deal, the footie season is all but over so if they want me to take sport they'll have to give it me for free :)

Sky Q only launched in Feb of 2016 on 18 month contracts so no one is able to haggle yet.

    Hi all,

    First post here but long-time-lurker...

I have a Sky package of (unused) Phone + top Broadband + TV (Ent+HD+Sports) that has grown to be far too expensive: £94.99 in recent months. From the last few pages of posts it looks like the best deals are gained by leaving and waiting a few weeks before reviewing what Sky offer you - is that fair to say?

Personally I've just tried an initial friendly phone call to Cancellations/Retentions that was only able to reduce my bill by 20% - and this was only if I signed up to an 18 month contract. I said it probably wasn't good enough and that I'd come back to them soon to cancel once I know which Virgin/BT I'm going for instead.

Any advice or a target price to aim for would be much appreciated!

well this is a bit of a con - I re-connected to the full Sky package (sports, movies, box sets) for 75% discount (£18.50 p/m) and £50 credit :)

But it seems I get all the channels in HD in this package, except the Sports channels - this costs £6 p/m extra to get those in HD. Since when did Sky introduce this sneaky new package?

Im thinking of cancelling this to be honest, as I think its a bit of a con!!!
Anyone managed to successfully get the Sports packages in HD in this price ?

...seems to depend on the agent you speak to - I got HD sports pack included in 60% off deal last October, it is detailed @ £2.40 in my subs- and some people have even got discounted multiroom included - but its in the lap of the Gods!!:rotfl:
EDIT - And even if you pay the £6pm its still cheaper than my £26.80pm

I'm afraid friendly calls don't work (or rather, friendly calls without putting in your cancellation! Obviously always be friendly, :)). You need to put in your cancelation to unlock the best deals.

True. I'll call them when I get the oportunity and see if the retentions dept can do something about this package they gave me. Im happy with the cost, just not happy about the sneaky way theyve managed to separate Sports HD with everything-else-HD.

My package even includes £50 credit on top :rotfl: as I rejected the 75% offer at first !! (see my posts earlier in this thread!)

Went on the 'Chat', best I was offered was 50% off TV (...excluding multi-room of course) and 20% off BB and line rental...wouldn't budge at all from that so I cancelled! I shall have a look at any offers that come my way in the cancellation period but am resigning myself to Freeview and amazon Prime for the near future...may also get Netflix... ...fed up of having to go through this faff each year, they really should look at their pricing and try to actually encourage people to stay this way...and stop using the Premiership as an excuse to push the prices up each year, I don't have the sports channels as they are ridiculously priced...I'll get my footie elsewhere for a lot, lot less thanks! :)
