  • My issues have been resolved by the Escalated Complaints team so I now have the deal that I was sold plus I'm exempted from termination fees if I choose to cancel.

The original call was apparently not recorded.

It was confirmed to me that there is no change of policy that 10 month deals will be matched for the final two months as was alleged to me and as appears to have been told to others.

I'm glad you have got that sorted.

So have you got the discount for 12 months? Are you staying or leaving?

I doubt that to be honest but it doesn't matter.

No we keep trying to tell people that on here but they keep believing what Sky advisers are saying and that they can phone after 10 months and get another deal.

I can safely predict we'll see a lot of complaints here soon for those that accepted 10 months deals with 12 months contracts.

I'm going to stay for now, I'm happy with the deal I've got for the moment. Virgin isn't an option for me and elderly Dad who lives with me likes the Sport channels so the alternatives don't really workfor us . I've been given a credit for the additional 2 months and they have given additional monthly discount to match the monthly figure i was given.

I was surprised that apparently call wasn't recorded... That's what I'm told though, they have accepted that I was mislead though so who knows.

  • Just called Sky after reading MSE article on Haggling! My £102 bill was set to go higher when price hikes were to be added. Was out of contract so called them up and within 30 minutes was reduced to £81.40 fixed for 10 months , saving at least £20 p/m before the coming price hike! I guess this will be at least £200 of a saving for ten months, when I was advised to call in again! Top stuff MSE!

    Not another one!

You will have no leverage at the end of 10 months to haggle for any deal as you are in a 12 months contract. You will have to pay full price for 2 months.

I got the letter about the increase in prices with sky,

    I got the following deal
Line Rental £10 for 10 months
    Free broadband for 12 months
£8 Anytime international talk package (as I had previously been on a £5 anytime & international calls package)

Averaging out over a year give £19.23 a month for phone and broadband.

My TV is not affected and the minimum contract is almost up on it, and there is already an offer in my account offering 25% of it for 10 months.
Considering taking this up or possibly cancelling the TV completely - the only reason I keep it is for the Sky +, so need to investigate alternatives.

Just cancel the TV when you are within 30 days of the end of your minimum term. You will get at least 50% off for 12 months with no further tie-in. You may even get more.

Do not consider any 10 months offer for a new 12 month contract.

A 10 month offer of 50% off is actually only just above 40%, over all.

Not very good deal - many people are reporting 50% or 60% savings plus bill credits of between £50 and£100 - for instance,I've "saved" over £550 pa on a monthly sub of £66.75, got a new HD+ BOX -and a 12 month deal:T

I got offered 44% off for 10 months - I am cancelling the TV.
