Just helped my mother in law cancel and get 60% off within 24 hours ....
Package
TV Package was boxed sets/ cinema/ sports in HD and 1 multiroom. Broadband was Broadband Lite which is 2Gb allowance per month only. Telephone Line rental and calls are with BT.
What we did
I helped her cancel Saturday 3/9/16 via online chat. Cancellations offered £64 p/m incidentally.
Sunday Morning there were no discounts showing in her Sky online account.
Went back on chat via "Left Sky in the last 12 months"
I used the Money Saving Expert code for new Sky customers as a comparison
See Hotukdeals for discussion and prices (Unfortunately I cant link to it as Im a new member)
Basically new customers with that code were paying about £35 for Box Sets/Cinema/Sports/HD
The Outcome
they would give 60% off the TV packages fairly easily. Eventually got 10 months 50% multiroom (£12 -> £6 p/m) and 10 months 35% off HD . £50 account credit. and with No 12 months contract....
£39.50 for 10 months and £45.40 for next 2 months less about £4 a month for the call credit. So £35.50 and £41.50 thereabouts... then back up to £92 in 12 months time!
Don't ask me to explain how sky work ...I just don't understand myself ...but hope that helps someone.
WARNING - Renewing your contract via Sky Box accidentally
I cancelled our account as well on Saturday. Looked on the Sky box under My account half an hour later to see 60% available. Moved forward through menu to see the prices and it renewed the contract without explaining anything clearly. It doesn't warn you what its going to do.....So beware.
If it happens to you wait about 48 hours before phoning up to cancel. We phoned Saturday to check if a new contract had been set up - only to be told no. By Monday we received an email to say thanks for renewing.... The Sky agents we spoke to Saturday couldn't see the "new" contract as it hadn't hit their system yet.
Beware as its a lot of faffing to get it taken off again via a particular cancellation team. I speak from experience...
Good luck0 -
I must be doing something wrong here. Ive been with Sky over 15 years. Have had my cancellation in for over 2 weeks, and I get no email , or link offering 50% off , let alone 60%. They did offer me the 50% when I eventually rang, but wouldnt give any further offers on my bband or line rental. Net result is I will probably go to BT for my bband, as its quicker, and is the cheapest way for me to BT Sport on my TV.
As for credits ... I give up , have never been offered one, and they just deny it if i even mention it. Maybe I try the above and say ive hade 60% plus credit in an email. (as my nose grows bigger ! )
Amazing you got it without even your cancellation going thru . Well done . As for the guys getting 60% plus credits, well done too.
Just so Im not missing something, where exactly do you guys check to see these offers ?0 -
Hey I just found the Sky Survey stuck in my Junk folder . Completed it and bingo , the 60% off tv deal is in my account. Just the 'credit' to haggle for and see if i can get the 60% off HD as well Net result is I will probably go to BT for my bband, as its quicker, and is the cheapest way for me to BT Sport on my TV.

We were with Sky for many years, I negotiated a good deal last year, but this year when our contract was up they wouldn't budge on anything less than almost £30 pm more than I'd been paying.
So I cancelled and ....... nothing.
Sky tv ended for us on July 18th.
It was Monday this week before I even heard from them and it's an amazing offer which came through the post, but it's probably arrived too late for us.
We're getting used to a freesat box and probably won't renew with Sky.0 -
To update my offer was in fact 60% off and £100 credit which pays for the free 11 months. They did not restart the multiroom so upon a call to customer care they are going to listen to recorded call to confirm if I was in fact offered multiroom. Which I was. They will honour it if salesperson did say I would get it.
Will update when I hear back to see if they are honest about it. I hasten to add the email I asked for detailing package was only a welcome back standard email so this will be my next line of enquiry should I need it.0 -
My Sky TV, BB and phone were due to be disconnected next month. Just checked the website and been offered the following deal
60% off TV (not inc HD)
Fibre unlimited £10 per month (no activation fee)
I will be taking up this offer :-)0 -
I am currently attempting to leave Sky however my contract is not due to expire until Jan 31 2017 I have called twice and been advised both times I cannot leave until my contract ends - I have asked for early termination figure and been told point blank no! My broadband is not reaching the speed promised so they are sending a BT Openreach engineer to test the line this week. When I queried cancelling my contract I was advised I amy be able to terminate the broadband but would still haveto keep the tv as they are separate contracts - yet when I signed up I signed for a total package? Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
When I did my last deal, I spoke to phone/bb and was put through to tv to make a deal with them.0 -
I have the family TV bundle, broadband and line rental with Sky.
I gave my notice at the weekend over the phone just for TV as my broadband and line rental are not due for notice for another 5 days (contract due for renewal 2nd week in Oct). I decided to have a live chat with the advisors today to see what they will over.
Tried first thing in the morning via the normal contact us page and got offered 20% off the TV for 12 months (so I will be paying £30.40 for TV) and nothing off my broadband and line rental.
I decided to try again at lunch time, this time via, I have left in the last 12 months chat page and was first offered 30% for 12 months which I declined and then he offered 50% off TV which I declined and the 50% off TV with £50 credit, I asked for £100 and he say he can’t do £100, so I declined.
I then said if he gives me 60% off for 12 months without a contract and with the £50 credit, I will take it – and he offered and I took it. So for TV, I will be paying the equivalent of £11.03 a month for 12 months.
I will give my notice for broadband and line rental by the end of next week and start negotiating. I currently pay £7.50 broadband and £17.40 line rental (was on a free broadband and £5 off line rental for 10 months previously). I can see deals on here with BT, plusnet and talk talk which I can use to discuss a deal – what is a great deal to get for broadband and line rental with sky?
It will be great to pay under £30 in total for TV broadband and line rental.
What great deals are you all getting these days?0 -
Called sky today, said I had an email asking me to come back to sky TV. they offered me 60% discount and £75 credit.
I managed to get 60% discount and £100 bill credit. Variety package now costs £8 a month, £96 for 12 months and they gave me £100 credit. seemed a no brainer to me.
No just need to haggle a deal for landline and broadband which is up for renewal next month0 -
For anyone thinking of haggling with Sky I would advise that I wouldn't wait to see what they offer you via you online Sky account or letter. I have haggled for 3 family/friends over the past week and the discounts that are available have not necessarily been showing in their online Sky accounts. But they were available...
The approach I have taken is :-
1/ Cancel the TV account - You then are in a 31 days pending cancellation period
No service is affected for 31 days - your life goes on as normal
No recordings are lost unless you go over 31 days.
As long as you agree a new contract within the 31 days you wont feel a thing ....
2/ After cancelling your discount levels go up from approx. 15% to 50-60%
3/ Have a look around on MSE and Hotukdeals at the deals that other people are getting. Both new and existing customers..
4/ Have a look at what the opposition is offering. BT , Talk Talk etc
5/ Come up with an idea of what you'd be happy with
6/ Leave it at least 24 hours - log into your online account and use the "Left Sky within the Last 12 months" option under My Sky. Allow about 30 mins for a chat
7/ Negotiate your deal with Sky politely
I usually say that Im trying to match a deal that a family member has already got. Which is usually true.
At the moment 60% TV appears to be the norm - whilst the discount on HD and multiroom seem to yoyo.
Up to 50-60% max. In each case there has been a minimum of £50 account credit available.
If your not too eager .... you appear to get more offered to you.
If you're still thinking about it - they've offered a 31 day rolling contract in each case to clinch a deal
8/ If you don't get offered what want you want just say thanks and try again later or next day
9/ For any cancellations or reconnection save a copy of the chat by cutting and pasting the text of the chat into a separate file (like a Word document). Its there if you ever need to refer to it later
If you have broadband as well I would cancel the TV as per above and then speak to the cancel broadband team to haggle a new deal there first . Ive been told that broadband is a 14 day cancellation period ....so this needs sorting out first. The Tv is easier
But obviously if you can negotiate everything together ...more bargaining power .
The last cancellation/reconnection I did was my own on Thursday 8/9/16....
I was offered Boxed Sets/Cinema/Sports/HD for £32 a month and 50% off multiroom for 10months
so £38 for 10mnths (£44 for next 2) . With £50 credit (approx. £4 a month equivalent off above prices) and a rolling 31 day contract.
So Ive agreed the multiroom deal.
This was a few pounds cheaper than the deal I negotiated for my mother in law about 5 days before. So it show that the deals do fluctuate slightly....
Good luck0
