  • I've got 24 hours left till termination and I got an email offering Sky Signature for £21.

The deal I was on was an old one with Cinema, Boxsets, HD.

I don't know what Signature includes. For example If I have to pay for HD and Cinema on top to get the same deal?

Oddly enough it says Keep Sky Q! But I have a Sky+ HD box, not Sky Q.

  • I've been disconnected now for nearly a week. Since I put my cancellation in all I've had from them is a text message asking me to call them about their Black Friday "deals". Wonder how long it will be before a get a genuine offer from them to come back??

Mine switches off on 26th November. Today I had an email with Signature for £19,went on live chat to discuss it and it added up to £31 with Netflix, HD & UHD. My current package was £50 (Signature, Netflix, Cinema, Sports, HD & UHD). I've been paying £44 for this and freesat & Netflix isn't that much worse than Signature but a lot cheaper. Said no to both offers. The win back team had previously said they'd call me this Friday when I turned down an offer from them just after I cancelled but we'll see. They aren't offering much at the moment or certainly not as often as they used to. I'm happy to let it cancel this time though unless it's a great deal. I have Q by the way.
  • Apparently Signature includes box sets, according to the nice lady from Sky.
I got offered £33 for a new Q box, UHD, Cinema and Signature.
I very carefully asked if they could do that for under £30 but she couldn't. She offered Sports on top for about £8 and suggested Netflix.  So I repeated that I would definitely accept a Q box, UHD, Cinema and Signature for under £30. She suggested she could have a word with her manager and call me back.

Like a few others on here have stated, the deals offered to me have gradually got worse the nearer I've got to termination. This is quite an interesting tactic from Sky. The initial deal offered was still too high and I tried to get this down via Chat but got nowhere. Think this deal lasted 3 or 4 days before expiring. The next one, via email, was worse and one by post worse still. Back on Chat and it was the same. Think I now have two weeks left?

So, unfortunately for me, whoever I have chatted to has not offered a good deal and they have all said they are tied to what the systems spit out. Bit of a shame as I would be prepared to stay for the right price but that hasn't been forthcoming and I refuse to be robbed. Does seem a bit mad to get no money out of me rather than some but there you go.

For reference, initial offer was £62 for Signature, Cinema, Sports, Netflix, UHD+HD, Multiroom. Currently got Kids too and with that added came to £66. Subsequently, £69 and in the post it was £66 without Kids so maybe £72?

Happy to live without though as already have access to standard Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney. Plus, there are always deals on Now TV, for instance they currently have 2 months of Cinema for £2 which will get us through Christmas! Stick a USB stick in the TV and I have the ability to record, pause etc. I had just renegotiated broadband with VM and I could have had their full TV package with additional BT Sports and Netflix for an additional £46! Didn't though as I prefer Sky and have always managed to get a deal. Until now - doh!

    Cheers.

I’ve always managed to get a deal until now as well. For the package I mentioned in my last post they called me 2 days after I put my cancellation notice in and offered it for £48 (I pay £44), then I was emailed an offer that seemed to add up to the £44 but it only included UHD and HD was extra so £48 total again, also despite it saying no admin fee I was told I had to pay one anyway. I phoned and was told the same but no admin fee. Next offer I was emailed I was told that’s no longer available as you turned down the last one it’s now £51 and that it will go up even more if you turn this down, today it was £50. I know that Sky customer service representatives can only offer us what they’re allowed but I’m not paying this much for TV and having to commit to an 18 month contract at the moment. Also the attitude of Sky during all of this has put me off anyway, sending offers that aren’t clear, have hidden charges or not even supposedly available to me after all. A few of the Sky staff have sounded stressed as well as if under pressure to get people to sign up again for a higher price.  I’m also hearing that a lot of Sky customers aren’t getting offered very good deals after the cancellation has gone through and it’s all been switched off. I can only think that so many people who pay or accept higher deals are going through with cancelling because of cost of living so there’s less great deals for the rest of us.

But at the end of day, Sky have to pay for the service provision/content etc. whether you're a customer or not. Therefore, it surely makes sense for them to get some money out of you rather than nothing? I don't know as they certainly don't seem to want the custom this time around and as you say, with the cost of everything else going up, this is the kind of none essential service people can do without. If anything, they should be offering it cheaper! Glad you mentioned the Admin fee as well, as the last chat I had, the Admin fee I was quoted had gone up to £40! Just extracting the urine.

I share a Netflix account, have Amazon Prime mostly for the delivery and have had Disney from Tesco vouchers for the last 18 months and now have a free 12 months as part of a Samsung promo, so have never paid cash for it. Between those and Freeview Play, plus any deals on Now, I'm well covered and will be saving a packet. So yeah, more of a loss to them than to me I would say.

    Cheers.

I completely agree, we also have Netflix and Prime Video, a freesat box upstairs also so much available is on iplayer etc. Even if I decide to buy a recordable freesat box for downstairs or get an aerial fitted and opt for freeview it’s still cheaper with Netflix at full price rather than Signature/Netflix/UHD & HD from Sky. Without Sky we can have Disney+ and Apple as well if needed. Ridiculous attitude from Sky at the moment, what are they going to do with all the Q boxes being returned to them as well as their new streaming/puck box which isn’t supposed to be much better than the disaster that is Glass TV.

Are the SkyQ boxes similar to Sky +HD? By that I mean do they record to a local disk?
The concern I have with the recent crop of streaming systems is they force you to watch adverts - like Youtube, and you can't spin forwards when the adverts turn up?

I'm now officially out of contract as far as I can tell. Waiting for the win back people to work some magic.

Yes they do, they have a hard drive they record to so when watching back you can fast forward through the ads. I do like the Sky Q box a lot, just can’t justify the cost if not offered a good enough deal.
