Huge Fine For Minor Offence
Comments

I'm not planning on doing this as a hobby from now on. I'm still going to treat it as I did before.
All I'm saying is if you do enter a yellow box, you may as well keep moving as slow as possible in the hope that the exit does clear.
If it doesn't clear you could try a few donuts to keep moving.:cool:0 -
Would a better title be?
Huge fine for not dealing with a small fine for Minor Offence,
I don't see why you expect they should accept your alternative choice of punishment.0 -
The traffic was flowing, but I had to stop for few seconds whilst someone up ahead changed lanes.
This bit interests me. It's not clear whether that someone up ahead changed into or out of the OP's lane.
But it raises a question. Many times I've entered a yellow box with the exit clear, only to be banjaxed by somebody changing *into* my lane (possibly someone who realises they are going to be stuck in the box themselves and spy my gap!) and thus leaving me with nowhere to go.
I hope I wouldn't be fined for this, but I reckon it would be difficult to prove.0 -

^^ this, especially in that there lundun dive.
I wonder if footage from a dashcam that supports a claim of being cut up, by one of the million+ cutter uppers in the dump, would be acceptable.
Lorry/bus drivers especially have problems at such junctions, having to wait for a space for up to 5 cars on the other side of the box, yet cutter uppers keep 'pinching' their space, note this doesn't apply to tipper/construction vehicles for obvious reasons.0 -

It always surprises me how a thread can get to 3 pages when the OP hasn't returned since the initial post. All your base are belong to us.0

Three car lengths legal maximum, unless an articulated wagon (or the unlamented bendybuses), which are four. And that ignores any space between the cars.
Funny how i managed to fit 5 flat or 6 (if one was flipped) cars along the top deck(s) then of a perfectly standard transporter i drove for years, but never mind, you hopefully get the point i was making.0 -
Given that the maximum legal length for an articulated wagon is 16.5 metres, and 12m for a rigid... Only rigid plus drawbar trailer can exceed that, 18.75m max - and you'll only very very rarely see those in cities.
The London bendys were 18m long, the "new Routemaster" is 11.2m
A current Ford Focus hatch is just under 4.5m, a Focus estate just over. Even a Fiesta is just over 4m.0 -
