  • Well the car has managed to surpass itself yet again and the garage have found a shed load of work that will eventually need doing £1000 to be precise. Only need to have £200 of it done today though but that is my whole weekend fund blown.
  • So the weekend fund was spent on the car. So I ended up putting a few bits on the credit card over the weekend (Naughty me) However the reason I didn't have the money spare was because I had already paid a good chunk off it. It didn't surpass my refund of £187.50 though which I am really happy about.

Onwards and upwards. Pay day on Thursday and I have £30 left. Still need to list lots of stuff on ebay which I will try and do this weekend rather than binge watching Boardwalk Empire.
  • So today I paid off my Very account :T (including £250 for my mum and dads cooker which they pay me back for as and when they can afford it)

Just the two CC's to go now. Hoping to pay £400 off that one at the end of the month and maybe more if Dad makes a payment.

Feeling really positive today. Plus a short month pay wise so it won't be long until I can pay another chunk off!:j
  • Plus I managed to get OH's present at a £30 discount and have bought all Xmas cards and wrapping. I am done for Xmas. Such a great feeling knowing that its all paid for :)
  • Popping in to say hi! :j

Looks like you're doing great despite the setbacks - as you say, you're in a better position than you could have been! Getting Very paid off is a huge step, a whole debt brought down to 0! :T

And well done on the Xmas pressies...it's a great feeling to know that it's all done and dusted and there'll be no frantic last minute shopping trips!
    Personal Loan - £5617.85 Aqua card - £1972.83 Savings account - £958.28 Debt Free Goal - February 2019
    SPC9 #528 - total £138.36
  • Well i'm still plugging away at this debt. We were hoping to move into a new build home towards the end of next year. The developer on the site we like has just released a new development layout. There is one house that has a tiny kitchen/diner but a south facing garden, and an amazing house that has a north facing garden. My parents home is north facing and I hate it!

The only other south facing plot in the style of that house we like won't be released until the end of 2017! So we have decided to wait for that one, and look for other options while we wait. Not sure how I feel about it all to be honest its another 12 months to wait maybe a little more. I'm concerned about interest rates and house prices rising but I just don't want to spend 230k on a house that isn't perfect I am willing to compromise on some bits but not that! Anyway going to look at the show homes this weekend.

    Body clock is ticking!!!
  • We went to see the show homes. They were beautiful. I could definitely see myself living there. It just seems like such a long time away. I know I am young and two years in the grand scheme of things is nothing but I just felt like I should be sorted by now.

Onwards and upwards. I have sold a bag today Yey! I listed it and completely forgot I had. I do use it on occasions but I decided it needed to go. So thats around £175 that will be getting paid off the credit card once the buyer receives it.
  • Feeling really upset about the house situation today. I suppose this is just an opportunity to save as much as possible.

    In other news I have paid a few bits today and thought I would post a progress update, totals now are;
    Overdraft £730.00 PAID!!
    Very £1202.25 PAID!!
    Barclaycard £4495.76 - £4300.00
    Halifax Card £904.36 - £830.00
    TOTAL £7332.37

I get paid in just over a week and hoping to take £800 off the Barclaycard. This is when the proper stuff happens. The Barclaycard total seems a little disheartening but I did have spent on it for our weekend away when the car needed repairs. Since my first post on 17th August I have paid £2202.37 off debt.

Feeling pretty pleased with myself. After Christmas I will need to be more strict.
  • Wow 8 days since my last confession. Ha! Time does fly. As just goes to prove the point thing have started slipping a little. Anyway Pay Day today and paid a little of the credit car hopefully this will help to limit some damage before the statement is due.
  • Well it has been quite a while since I last logged in.

The debt has come down a tiny bit more in the last month. I could have done much better. Its so easy to get caught up in Christmas. Anyway there are tight times ahead I need to be very strict over the next few months.

Had a very hard Christmas and slipped back into emotional spending.

But I am still going to crack this. I was being a little delusional before thinking I could clear this for April. Car Insurance, Ring Insurance and MOT, Tax is due soon. Never thought to factor those in before but I have now. Here we go!

    Happy January all!
