  • I have just switched to v17 on the eon web site, very straight forward, my monthly charge has gone up from £93 to £94, so I am very pleased to be able to stay with eon, you know us old uns, we don't like change. Unless we have to :)

OK, not bad, much better than I thought it would be, and certainly a lot better than v16.

I'll be approx £60 worse off moving from the E.on collective onto v17 and I'd save over £100 by taking up the best comparison for me, GB Energy. But there are other elements to consider as well as the saving, e.g. customer service, change-over hassle, etc.

I might try doing a single fuel comparison as I could probably save quite a bit more, especially on the gas TCR.

I've got around 50 days to go yet so there's no hurry (unless v17 gets pulled quickly of course).

    Hi beardiedog.

Glad you're able to see the new tariff at last and sorry for the delay. This tariff will only be available for a limited time but, as of yet, we've not been told an end date. Once known, this will be on the website. I'll also update this thread with the information.

Online customers on Fixed Tariffs who have opted in for Price Alerts will be sent emails about version 17 and any other later versions of the tariff.

Hope this is of interest beardiedog.

Some 'old uns' do like change if it means that I am paying £665 per year for my energy rather than E.oN's £803 per year (v17 tariff -source E.oN's website). I would respectively suggest Sir Freddy that you need to look at MSE CEC: prices have fallen a lot in the last 12 months.

V17 looks good. I'll probably switch to it, although it's annoying that I have over 5 weeks on my even cheaper V15 left, particularly as we are finally experiencing a spell of cold weather! But once the reward points are taken into account, V17 is the cheapest on the current market for me, so I'd rather stay with E.ON than have the hassle of moving to an unknown supplier with poor service rating.

They aren't saying how long this will be available, but I signed up to V15 around the same time last year, and this was available for a period of two weeks: 27th January 2015 to 10th February 2015. See here:
    https://www.eonenergy.com/for-your-home/products-and-services/Tariff-terms-and-conditions/EON-Energy-Fixed-1-Year-V15

Perhaps that offers a clue people might find useful, although obviously there are no guarantees. I think I'll switch once I receive the e-mail from E.ON officially telling me about it.
  • Hengus, for me I like a peaceful life, and the reviews I read about changing companies did not fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling, I was happy with my Eon V14 but I was unhgappy with my new Eon quote and I would most certainly have used the CEC to change companies if Eon had not brought out V17 at the rates which I am happy with.

Sign up for it anyway. You'll stay on the v15 rates until its scheduled end. Just call E.On to confirm it - their customer service does on the whole appear to know what they are talking about.

  • I've just decided to move both my 80 year old Mum and our tariff elsewhere as even this new EoN tariff is too high. For us, a family of four, the new tariff is £235 MORE with the EoN V17 per annum than the lowest priced and best rated for feedback Company and for my Mum it's £118. Sadly I can't stay with EoN when the figures look like that. And I would have liked to - EoN would always be my supplier of choice if their price is remotely competitive. But it's still not.

I had to scroll down three pages on MSE CEC to get to the E.oN v17 tariff so I am not sure where you are getting your information from. Energy companies are making £Ms of profits because consumers are fearful of switching because they read scare stories on sites such as this. The vast majority of consumers who do switch do so without any major issues. I initiated 4 switches last year and I had an issue with E.oN's widely inaccurate assessment of my annual consumption, and with a smaller supplier that failed to actually switch my gas supply because of an internal IT issue. The first problem was solved by an immediate switch away to a cheaper supplier's tariff; and the second was resolved with an apology and a small offer of compensation.

In January 2015, I was paying £73 per month for 10400kWhs of gas and 2400kWhs of electricity. Based on some changes to my heating system and the purchase of an electric vehicle, and switching suppliers again last month, I am now paying £55 per month for 10000kWhs of gas and 3000kWhs of electricity.

Personally, I think that a £200 per year saving (plus £60 cash back and no exit fees) is worth the occasional call and e-mail to CS, but I do of course respect the decision of those who decide 'better the devil you know.....'

I can't find any details about the V17 but I managed to get a quote (based on my ACTUAL useage over the past year) via the EoN website as I am a current customer. I'm not sure how publicly announced the new rates are on comparison websites. For example CEC didn't show any prices for V17 when the EoN website started quoting yesterday.
Unfortunately I didn't take a note of the unit prices (only the overall cost per annum) so I can't share those with you guys on here - sorry. I now can't see them anymore as I've initiated a switch to a much cheaper supplier.
