I too am coming to the end of my Fixed EON rate. I too would like to stay with them, but it's SO much more expensive than competitors. I could even save against the current fix, so I'm definitely moving. However, I'm finding it frustrating that they are saying there is a new deal on 12th but no details.

By the way, and can someone confirm please, it is my understanding that if you initiate a switch within 50 days of the end of the tariff that exit fees aren't payable?

    Morning sunflowerseeds.

Hengus is spot on. For customers on Fixed Price deals, there's a Price Protection window that kicks in when the contract is coming to an end. The window's open from the date on the renewal notice until 20 working days after the contract ends. As Hengus says, the window opens between 42 and 49 days before the end date. Provided we're told, we'll make sure you're protected against any price changes that aren't in your favour whilst a change of supplier goes through. Switching usually takes about two and half weeks. Also, exit fees don't apply whilst the Price Protection window is open.

Sorry for the frustration caused with the launch of our new tariff. It's out this morning although there's been a delay adding to our website due to some system issues. The Call Centres have the details now and the website will follow shortly.

Hope this helps sunflowerseeds. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

Sitting here fingers crossed that the new tariff which is due tomorrow is competitive. I got distracted and haven't started a switch even though my current tariff ends tomorrow but hopefully if Eon does not come up with the goods I can start a switch tomorrow to GB Energy without exit fees. If Eon put me on the standard tariff tomorrow presumably I wont have to pay an exit fee but not sure if I am too late to get my current rate protected until the move. Oh dear only another few hours and I can decide what to do!

    Oh dear, no information on the website yet just this message;

    We're sorry

We're doing essential maintenance on our switch pages at the moment. We’re sorry for any inconvenience, we'll be back up and running as soon as possible.

    Morning Blackdog.

Sorry for the delay launching the new tariff on our website. As above, there's been a few technical issues. Our Call Centres have details of the new tariff and the website will follow shortly. I'd check again in about an hour.

If you're still within the Price Protection window (open from the date on the renewal notice until 20 working days after the tariff end date) and provided we're told, you'll stay on the same prices and won't pick up exit fees whilst you switch.

Sorry for the delay beardiedog. As above, we've had a few technical issues with our website this morning but the Call Centres have details of the new tariff now. The website should be updated in about an hour - hopefully, a bit earlier. Don't forget about the price Protection window I mentioned above.

Not sure if its as specific as 50 days, quoted direct from Eon website

    Hi Wolf3

For customers on Fixed Term tariffs, the Price Protection window opens from the date on the renewal notice. This is between 42 and 49 days before contract end dates. It stays open until 20 working days after a tariff ends.

    Hope this explains.

  • OK, not bad, much better than I thought it would be, and certainly a lot better than v16.

I'll be approx £60 worse off moving from the E.on collective onto v17 and I'd save over £100 by taking up the best comparison for me, GB Energy. But there are other elements to consider as well as the saving, e.g. customer service, change-over hassle, etc.

I might try doing a single fuel comparison as I could probably save quite a bit more, especially on the gas TCR.

I've got around 50 days to go yet so there's no hurry (unless v17 gets pulled quickly of course).
