I went with the collective as an existing customer last March and it went through with no problems and saved me quite a tidy sum. The cheapest standard tariff is around 30% more so unless I can get a much cheaper tariff I will also be switching at the end of February even though I've been extremely happy with E.ON so far.
Hi beardiedog
Glad you've been happy with us so far. Thought I'd pop on to let you know that customers on Collective Tariffs aren't included in this current mailing. This means you won't receive either a letter or email at this particular time. Price Alerts aren't available with Collective Tariffs either. This is because Collectives are standalone tariffs so there won't be any new versions released. Best to keep an eye on our website or the independent comparison sites. This'll be where the new tariff will appear first. Alternatively, if you contact us on 12 January 16 or after, our advisers will be able to give you chapter and verse.
As your current deal comes to an end in the next 2-3 months, we'll be in touch to let you know. Don't forget about the Price Protection window I mentioned to rfsmith above (post 28). This starts when fixed term contracts like yours are nearing the end. It's open from the date on the renewal notice until 20 working days after the contract ends. Provided we're told, we'll keep you on the lower prices whilst a change of supplier goes through. Also, exit fees don't apply whilst the Price Protection window is open.
Hope this helps beardiedog. Let me know if I can help further as happy to do so.

I noticed this on their website last week, a few days after I ignored their best offer to renew at a nearly 25% higher rate. I wasn't that surprised, at a time of falling energy prices, that they wanted to increase it, but the margin was astonishing.
Hi jrio
I suspect you were looking at our Fixed 1 Year version 16 tariff as this is one of our current offers and appears on our website now. If you're on a previous version of this tariff, it's likely you're on a discounted product. These were available for a limited time about a year ago and were guaranteed to hold prices below standard for a full 12 months. These offers aren't available at the moment. The current version 16 still guarantees to hold prices below standard but not by as much as before.
The tariff rfsmith mentions is a new product due to be launched on 12 January 16. I've very little information about this yet apart from it'll be cheaper than version 16. I won't know by how much or how it stacks up against the rest of the market until it actually launches. Best to keep an eye on our website and the independent comparison sites as details will appear there first. Although, depending on the actual deal you're on or if you've signed up to receive Price Alerts, you may receive an email/letter about this new tariff.
From what you say, it sounds like you've received your renewal notice. As I mentioned earlier to beardiedog, you're probably in the Price Protection window. This'll be open from the date on the renewal notice until 20 working days after the contract ends. Provided we're told, we'll keep you on the lower prices whilst a change of supplier goes through (usually takes about two and a half weeks). Exit fees don't apply either whilst the window is open. Just to let you know, if we don't hear from you, the account will automatically default to our standard plan once the fixed term contract ends.
Sorry to be a bit vague jrio but hope this is of interest. Let me know if I can help further as happy to do so.

It's so frustrating that the new tariff details will not be published until 12 January as my current fix ends on 12 January so don't know whether to switch somewhere else now or wait for the new tariff risking being put on the standard tariff for a day or two.
Hi Blackdog
Totally appreciate the frustration. I've been trying to find out a bit more information but the final details haven't been signed off. We've still people away for Christmas/New Year and so it's unlikely I'll be able to find out much more before the launch date.
Just a thought but, once you start a switch, there's usually a 14 day cooling off period where you can change your mind and stay with the same provider. If our new tariff turns out to be of interest and provided you're still in this window, you could cancel the switch.
Changing between E.ON tariffs can be done straightaway. This way, as it looks like you'll be switching during the Price Protection window I mentioned above (post 28 in particular), you'll be on the same prices as now until the new tariff starts. If it turns out to be of no interest, you can carry on with the switch. Might help you escape our standard tariff.
Hope this helps Blackdog.

My current fixed tariff ends towards the end of February. I received the "It's time to choose a new tariff" e-mail on Tuesday, but then today received the one telling me about the new one to be released on 12 January. I assumed that had just been announced, but I see here people were told about it in December. So why not just tell me about that originally? Were they hoping I'd sign up to the current, expensive tariffs?
Unless it's significantly better, I won't hesitate to switch suppliers.

You can change between different Eon tariffs (including collective tariffs) at any time without penalty - so if they release a new tariff while you are on a fixed deal you can change to that free of charge if its better for you.
Eon have announced they will be releasing a new cheaper tariff on 12 January but have not yet released pricing details.
If you are on a fixed price deal, all suppliers have to notify/remind you 42-49 days in advance of that period ending -I presume that is what the Eon "It's time to choose a new tariff" e-mail is. As soon as you receive this email, you can switch between different providers and the existing provider won't/can't charge you any early cancellation/exit fees.
Obviously Eon have realised/noticed that their current tariff is more expensive than the competition and want customers to wait until their new tariff is announced before they consider leaving..

Too late for me, my v15 ends this month and v16 was ridiculous so I've already made arrangements to switch to OVO.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I've only recently switched to EON but from reading these forums I gather their best tariffs over the last year have been those they have offered via collective switching schemes such as MSE/uswitch and UKPower - and not those listed on its own website.
One thing many overlook (especially if the new tariff is higher than an existing one) is that as long as you apply for the switch before your current fixed term contract expires, you remain on your fixed pricing until the transfer completes.. so it can make sense to switch as apply for the switch as late as possible (one or two days before your deal ends say)
