    Hi rfsmith7

I'm afraid I don't know much about this new tariff at the moment. I've been asking questions and understand the details haven't been finalised yet so don't want to 'jump the gun' and give misleading information. I do know that it'll be released on 12 January 16 and will be cheaper than our current Fixed 1 Year (version 16) tariff but I've no idea yet how it will stack up against other options on the market.

As of 12 January 16, details will be on our website. Also, customers currently on fixed tariffs and who have signed up to our online Price Alerts service will receive an email to let them know about the tariff.

Sorry to be vague rfsmith7 but, as above, don't want to mislead. We do, though, take notice of customer feedback both good and bad so keep it coming. My colleague, Helena, sends all the threads we've responded to through to our senior management so your comments are seen by those best placed to make a difference.

We too are on 1 year fixed version 15 which ends early February 2016 with good prices and have had the new quote for version 16 at a 30% price increase.

Have just received the email announcing that a new tariff will be released on 12 January 2016.

I sure hope this is a lot better than version 16 and closer in price to version 15. I'd understand if the price isn't as low as the recent collective deals but a 30% price increase is crazy at this time of lower fuel costs.

For the past year it seems like E.on has only been interested in chasing the collective customers rather than offering competitive tariffs to its own customers and new customers direct from their own website. I have seen the collective prices are even cheaper than our current tariff. But I'm really not keen on collectives as it means giving your personal details to a third party and risking errors in the transfer when you're not really transferring anywhere as you're transferring to your existing supplier. It also seems to be an pointless layer of extra work for E.on - I understand they have a team dealing with this. How many of their "new" customers are actually "existing" customers? How much money is spent on administering this?

It would be great if the moderators could give this feedback to the management at E.on as not everybody wants to go through the collective process. I guess we have the government to thank for this ... Supposed to make choosing an energy tariff simpler when it's actually made it 10x harder.

Thanks guys! Malc and Helen and anyone else that I have forgotten that is on this team - so reliable and informative. I always search your posts when I need information.

Not sure how you get the 30% increase. On an account I look after, it works out at 25% for their particular annual usage over V15. However you look at it though, it's a significant increase. I too wait for the new one with interest. E.On are good with customer service, but it depends how much extra you are prepared to pay for it...

We walked from EoN a couple of years ago and put a bit of effort in every year to make sure we are on the cheapest tariff.

It's a bit of a faff but here in our all electric bungalow out Cambridgeshire Fens we are getting away with £75 a month. I expect around £250 back come April when our fix with FU finishes (better weather than forecast and better optimisation of controls has knocked over 1500kwh off my estimate)

It really is worth the hassle of swapping suppliers.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • I haven't received the new tariff email as yet but then my fix doesn't end until March.

I went with the collective as an existing customer last March and it went through with no problems and saved me quite a tidy sum. The cheapest standard tariff is around 30% more so unless I can get a much cheaper tariff I will also be switching at the end of February even though I've been extremely happy with E.ON so far.

Well I've now had another email from EON saying -

"To bring in the new year we're launching a new Fixed 1 Year Tariff on 12 January 2016, which will have lower prices than the renewal quote we recently sent you. This tariff will be available for a limited time only. "

Perhaps EON have taken notice of some feedback, or lots of customers are switching. I will wait to see what the new tariff is.
I noticed this on their website last week, a few days after I ignored their best offer to renew at a nearly 25% higher rate. I wasn't that surprised, at a time of falling energy prices, that they wanted to increase it, but the margin was astonishing.

It's so frustrating that the new tariff details will not be published until 12 January as my current fix ends on 12 January so don't know whether to switch somewhere else now or wait for the new tariff risking being put on the standard tariff for a day or two.

If you like E.On and want to stay with them, then it could well be worth waiting. However, if you're happy to switch, you can be pretty confident that you'll find a tariff cheaper than even the new one will be. You could always switch to someone with no exit penalty, so if you later want to come back to E.On you can at no extra cost - and maybe even get cashback for switching. :)

Hi abiabc and thanks for the kind words. They're really appreciated. Helena's not here at the moment but I'll be sure to pass these on when she's back.

The email you've received is part of a mailing going to customers on tariffs like the deal you're on. As above, the new tariff we're launching on 12 January will be cheaper than version 16 but don't know by how much yet. It'll hit our website first and, if you've signed up to Price Alerts, you'll receive another email letting you know more about it.

Totally understand not everyone likes the Collective Tariffs and will happily send your comments to the people involved with these offers.

Hope this helps abiabc. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help further.

Glad you're okay with the service you've received victor. Emails about the new tariff started to go out on 22 December 15 to customers on some earlier versions of Fixed 1 Year tariffs. This is where we've a valid email address and permission to contact them this way. In other cases, we're sending letters and these'll start to go out on 4 January 16. If the account you're looking after is registered for Price Alerts, it'll definitely be by email.

    Hope this helps.
