and cmon what sort of parent make there kids walk 6 maybe 7 miles to school?? especially at 11 years old!!
Do they live in an area with no public transport? Most Secondary school aged children catch the bus or even tram or train to school if it's the distance is too long to walk or cycle.blondebubbles wrote: »You expect children to walk 2-3 hours to school?0 -
Have you asked the kids if they are happy with being up and ready to leave before 6am .
As for the work situation- Save me the pity party- You aren't the only single parent in the world who works - and most have to do it without the other parent to share the childcare . You don't know how lucky you are to have that- Perhaps instead of making juvenile comments about her time of the month you could act like an adult and a parent and work out what is best for your children and not just you ! With your current arrangements you need her far more than she needs you - and as they actually live with her and not you as they spend the majority of nights under her roof she could easily get tax credits and also claim child support from you on top -and there would be nothing you could do if you want to keep your job ! You are clearly very bitter she has moved on and has a new relationship -but whilst you are so reliant on her goodwill it'd be a bit daft to keep arguing with her. What will happen when the kids decide they are sick of getting up early and either want to travel alone or change schools ? Quite why an 11 year old and a 13 year old can't manage a six mile journey sounds a bit odd though- but then why 6am anyway -it doesn't take 2 hours to drive 6 miles and eat breakfast ...Oh let me guess YOU insist it has to be on your way home from work rather than they have breakfast at Mum's and you pick them up at say 8am or later and take them straight to school. Once again YOUR needs coming first eh ?
Is there any reason (control issues excluded) why their Mum couldn't drop them off either at school or part way and they finish the journey by public transport (assuming there is none at all where she lives)
The children don't actually live with you -they just stay a couple of nights a week . I can understand your wife left the family home and in your head the kids didn't - but the reality is they have if they are sleeping elsewhere 5 nights out of 7.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Every child i know gets the bus to school. My dd had a 20 minute bus journey. 6 or 7 miles is nothing.
How are they going to learn independence.0 -

a 2 hour walk before school?

So you drive the children to their Mother's house so you can work nights and they aren't alone in the house.......but she also works nights.
