Thanks Tilly,
Its this funny business of paying in advance for the following year - I've had a reduction in earnings so had overpaid tax, hence the rebate.

Hi all,
I've been covering a couple of relief SW groups throughout December and January and been using the money to save up for my tax. As I no longer need this money, and the rebate will more than cover the July 31st payment, I'm directing my monies towards my CC and have decided to use the extra income from the relief groups to pay down the debt.
So I've just earmarked a further £1,000 towards this in YNAB.
I'm not actually paying the bill off yet as it's on 0% until March 2017 and I can gain interest on the money in my S123 a/c (in spite of the new £5 / month fee).
New balance is £2,250 and I've paid off £2,000 since August 2015
Happy days

Afternoon all,
What a sad day. Didn't enjoy waking up the news that Sir Terry Wogan had died. Practically grew up with his breakfast show. How sad!
Jobs for today:
1. Complete my SW month end and make plans to help all my lovely Consultants achieve their goals in February. If that happens, everybody wins!!
2. Last day of the month means Meter readings for Utility Warehouse.
I got a cracking result in Jan of about £45 returned to me as I'd overpaid in 2015. Now starting on lower monthly charges.
3. go into YNAB and reconcile all my accounts for January 31st ready for February. Monthly part of my income will arrive on February 10th

Hi thistle.
I found your diary!! Slowly working my way through and I am so glad to have found you (still on page one but just had to write this).
This is going to sound awful but I am so pleased that there is someone else who can only make smaller overpayments. Every other diary I have read seems to be large amounts which I just can't stretch to no matter how hard I try... so very pleased to find you.
Was just posting to say hello and to also say (although this might have changed by now) that my OH and I still have seperate finances but we both put a set amount into a joint account to pay all bills (monthly and annually). This allows the household stuff to be more fair. Don't know if this is something that would suit your lifestyle or not.
Also... in the debt free wannabe section, there are two challenges on the go. Both of these are for emergency fund saving. There is one with an aim of £1000 and one with an aim of 3 - 6 months. Again, I am not sure if these would be of help to you.
:undecided
Good luck with your mortgage overpayments and I look forward to catching up with the rest of your diary and any future posts.

I've just started off small to at least be able to say to myself that I'm doing something towards paying off the mortgage (And to justify my existence on this board!! :rotfl:My earnings are seasonal and bizarre in that I earn a weekly amount from my SW groups and a monthly amount from my Team - all of which fluctuate. At presnt I'm doing a bit better and so I can now manage an overpayment of £152/month - I'm seeing how this goes!
My mum gave me some money in October whn she sold her house, so that eased my burden somewhat.:T

I live on my own but I do have a partner - we have separate finances but share a lot of stuff eg he pays for a meal out one time, then I do etc. We manage and this works for us at the moment. When we get to live together, I'm sure we'll adopt your idea for bills etc.

I am currently saving for an EF of £5,000 and currently have £2,200 in there (money from Mummy Thistle. When my Credit Card becomes payable, if I've not got enough budgeted, I'll probably raid it to clear the Card - we'll see.
Good luck with your mortgage overpayments and I look forward to catching up with the rest of your diary and any future posts.
Hugs.
