Hi Tilly, thanks for stopping by.

My next Bellringing trip is to the Midlands in November which will include a night's stay in a B&B. These are always exciting affairs: excellent ringing, excellent food, excellent company.

What more could you ask for?

  • Tomorrow is "Annoying Day".

Tomorrow is the day when my mortgage daily interest tips me back over £81,000 - however, once the monthly DD is paid on November 1st, I'll be sub £81,000 forever!

In other mortgage news, I had to go into H S B C the other day to sort out signatories as I'm treasurer for an organisation I'm a member of, and the nice lady said she'd give me a mortgage once my Debt was sub £76,000 so there's a goal to aim for at last!

Ps my phone's predictive text always changes H S B C to "havoc" :rotfl:

  • Hello everyone, and I hope you all had a super Christmas.

I can't believe it's been 2 months since I last posted in my diary. I think I was ill for the entirety of November and then December was all about getting my accounts in to the accountants (#alwayslastminute).

Anyway, now it's almost January and I've got a bit more spare time to post and get back up to date.

Since October, my mum sold her apartment and gifted to me the £3,000 that she'd lent me earlier on in the year, so that has helped me no end in getting back on track with my finances.

I've increased my overpayment on my mortgage by a further £50 so now I'm paying £600/month against a contracted amount of £448. Pleased to be able to do something about this.

Currently focused on promoting my Slimming World groups like never before. My team has shrunk as I sold some groups back to SW for which I received a one off payment. It's allowed me to re-evaluate my work/life balance a bit and get my ship in order.

So hopefully 2016 will be a great year for Thistle.

    Missed you all,

  • Car insurance renewal arrived in the post on my birthday last week and was up 33% the robbers!! They wanted £993:eek::eek::eek:

Anyway, a couple of comparison sites later and I secured it for the next 12 months at £398:rotfl:

As I'd been saving £60/month towards renewal, I now have £322 to knock off the T3sc0 CC. Happy days!! :D

  • Hi all,

January at SW is proving to be totally manic with hundreds and hundreds of new members joining across the Team. It's truly amazing and great to see so many members losing so much weight. My groups lost a staggering 23 stone in one week!!

Getting sorted with my finances too, which is reassuring. The gift from mum has really helped and my emergency fund now stands at £2,000 which is a lovely safety net. However, the bath is leaking so it may not stay at £2,000 for long.

Some thieving scrote has tried to nick the lead flashing off my outhouse roof so it's been pouring in with all this rain! This might be a home insurance claim job I think. At the end of the day, if I don't claim, why do I bother having insurance??

    Hope you're all well.

  • Afternoon all,

Well here we are, to all intents and purposes, at the end of January 2016 and I must say my finances have taken a turn for the better over the last 31 days.

January is always a good month for me, as lots of lovely members return to SW with a view to losing weight for the new year.:D This makes up for December, which can be financially challenging!

I've done my tax for my business y/e Mar 31, 2015 and having saved £4,000 for my tax bill, I find myself with a refund of £1,600:eek::eek::eek: so that's completely blown me away and will help me sort out some outstanding debts like getting rid of my boiler replacement finance, once and for all!!

My mortgage interest has now dipped below £10 / day (OK it's at £9.99 but hey - I'll take that!).:j

I've managed to pay off £1,000 of my credit card bill (which my surprising tax situation will help to change!) and I'm only a couple of months off being sub £80K with my mortgage.

I may be in line for some bonuses coming up at the end of February and possibly March too.

Hope you're all fighting fit financially too.

    Thistle x;)

Ps I might even have a nice holiday!:D
