Thanks for almost doubling my shoe collection as I said that I guesstimate 120-150 pairs - I had better warn my husband that building an extension has now become imperative :rotfl:

150 or 200 (I'll admit I read that wrong), your statements are full of bigotry and hypocritical. No way can you make someone out to be pretentious about their clothing and then show off with your designer crud. I cannot show any respect for any counter argument you make.

Quiz of the day. Which pompous simpleton boasted this:
" I do actually own a pair of the shoes I linked ..... along with about 120-150 other pairs."

When I was dieting I had a to-die-for dress (Monsoon) that I hung up on the outside of the wardrobe.
That was my incentive - to fit into it.
Every couple of weeks, I'd try it on.
Eventually it did fit me - I wore it to my nephew's christening (as a godparent) and to my friend's wedding (as a witness) - then it was too big. It's still slightly big now but I've hung onto it for 'old time's sake'. :)

In general, the posher the hotel, the less likely we are to be staying in it. :p

Far too many is probably the right answer in my case.

I have a 2 metre wardrobe with 2 hanging rails, one side has dresses, which include day ones & more 'dressy' ones, also a few jackets. The other side has my every day clothes, jeans, shirts, skirts etc but does include my work uniform.

The every day side has 4 one metre wide drawers containing undies, nightwear, t.shirts, vests, shorts & other more holiday type stuff. The dress side has 2 one metre baskets continuing bags, shoes, pashminas.

I also have a few winter bits sorted under the bed (which I'll swap over in the autumn), plus my small, spare room has some more winter stuff vacu packed under the bed & a couple of coats hanging on the back of the door.

I dread to think how many pairs of shoes I have, my friend challenged me to count them, I haven't done it yet!

I need to have a clear out soon, perhaps when autumn comes & the summer stuff gets swapped over I'll have a cull. I am though being much more mindful of 'need, not want' more recently.

I have half of our double wardrobe and 3 small drawers.

If I start to struggle to fit things in I have a clear out and sell on ebay. Anything that doesn't sell gets relisted just in case and then if still unsuccessful goes to charity shop.

I tend to live in pyjamas and comfy jogging bottoms at home so my dresses, jeans and skirts are usually in good nick.

If you have moved into a smaller property its probably a good idea to have a sort through.

Storage is limited here and we 'declutter' every couple of months. I also keep a box in wardrobe for charity shop stuff, usually an appropriate collection bag comes through the door as the box fills up.

Could you sort through and sell some items, local facebook pages here seem to sell individual items along with a bag of size X clothes. Take photos of the sentimental stuff you can bare to part with.. vacuum pack the other things. It sounds like a lot of clothing in a limited space.

I have a dress I bought as a filler item to get free delivery on an online order last year, the dress was lovely on and I kept it, still unworn but I really like it. Was questioning the wisdom of buying it, but now I have a wedding to go to next year and I plan to wear it to that, so glad I have it. Eeek, hope it still fits though!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was thinking about this thread today as I filled a small bin bag with clothes we are getting rid off ( bag has to be sorted into charity or rags....I was in a rich today).

Two points from the thread really stuck with me as worth commenting on again:

Duplicate items Nd seasonality both: there are somethings I noticed I was hanging on to simply because they cannot be easily replaced with things from what's for sale at the moment....a favourite pair of trousers for example, despite their age I always feel good in them and lots of people ask where I got them, and it say where and people say 'ooh' and then I say 'three years ago...' And faces fall. The week I bought them I went back for another pair knowing how good they felt but they had sold out, and yes, I got them to check and they had none in my size ( or a size either side) anywhere left. :(

I recently bought a dress I absolutely adore and part of me wonders if I should not buy a second because I KNOW I will be sad when it gets damaged/ tired/ stained or whatever.

Well done for losing weight and getting back into the dress, it must have felt wonderful to get back into it and clearly inspired you. :) Perhaps i need to have a root through and find a favourite, and use that as inspiration! Saying that there is a pair of jeans i'd dearly love to get back into They are a size 16 and i coudn;t get them over my hips last time i tried them on. But i'm going to go get them and try harder this time!
