I've not read any of the replies.

All the clothes that i own can fit into 2 drawers and 4 coat hangers. I try and live a minimalist life, so dont buy anything that i dont NEED. I am the same with bags, shoes, jewellery etc.

However, i am now in NEED of a few new trousers, so am going shopping tomorrow for new stuff.

As a woman, i dont see the attraction in buying loads of new things..i think it skipped my genes and my sister got double the dose as she has loads and loads of clothes, bags, shoes, make up etc!

I would be careful waving those facts around here. I fully appreciate the minimalistic wardrobe, and try and ebrace that life style too.

However, when I mentioned that I have a minimalistic wardrobe, which is comfortable, high quality, stylish and budget conscious. I got attacked by LilElvis, who thinks that I am "bragging" and "pompous".

Yet in some twisted logic, I have seen her throw around her 200+ shoe collection, Jimmy Choo, Nicole Farhi, Bally, Russell & Bromley, and her knickers that cost more than my shirt.

All I can take from this weird conversation with LilElvis is, if you buy lots of designer clothing, tell people your clothing costs more than theirs - then it is perfectly normal. If you say your budget conscious and have a minimal wardrobe, your going to be labeled a pompous bragster.

You spend 5 minutes putting stuff in the machine before you go out for the day and 5 minutes taking it out when you get back. It's really no time or effort - less even than running the dishwasher.

We had a washer and a drier a few years back at a family holiday in the lakes (large extended type family holiday) due to activities and weather things did get washed (I also enjoyed the novelty of the dryer as we don't have one at home - although unfortunately my well meaning SIL put a pair of my jeans on the hottest dry setting and shrunk them ...upwards)
    I have 10 dresses, 5 summer, 5 winter.
1 smart jacket, 1 evening jacket, 3 cardigans.
These are all in one wardrobe, I have 3 drawers, one containing underwear, one containing scarves etc, one containing play clothes (corsets, pvc, leather etc).
I've just bought 2 pairs of shoes & thrown 2 pairs away that were worn out, I have one pair of boots & 1 pair of trainers.

I've just realised I have 4 pairs of sports trainers alone  saying that I exercise 4-5 times a week, some indoors, some out so can't really wear muddy outdoor trainers into a gym class. I wear three pairs regularly (just starting to love my newest pair now they're breaking in) one pair is in reserve from fleabay, brand new and a very good price.

im feeling I'm missing out on these Armarni knickers though :rotfl: :p
Although my OH secretly loves GBBO as much as me (hence I make him watch it with me :D and has input on my clothes if I need an opinion. He's not fussed about where the dining table is placed though. :)

Another holiday option is to stay in a suite at a 5 star hotel. They usually include complimentary washing and dry cleaning and always include pressing. No need to wash your knickers in the sink at a decent hotel!

Thanks for almost doubling my shoe collection as I said that I guesstimate 120-150 pairs - I had better warn my husband that building an extension has now become imperative :rotfl:

    No they don't!
Every 5 star hotel I've stayed at charges per item for laundry services.
What 5 star hotels offer complementary laundry?

I don't own any Armani underwear. My expensive lingerie is by an Italian brand called Cotton Club - like these: http://www.nancymeyer.com/Cotton-Club-Pane-E-Tulipani-Cyclamen-Hi-Cut-Brief/PAAAAACHOPBCKMLM/product?color=OAT

I have 8 sets of their lingerie - the rest is good old M&S :D

    How much??!!:eek::eek:

    I wouldn't buy any more watches. It's a a declining market.
Now I do like a nice watch. Hubby has got an Omega and I've got an Oris - there is a definite pleasure in owning something that is well made and is entirely mechanical.

I once paid for a service wash at a 5* hotel. Everything came back ironed and on its own hanger, including the knickers. Cost a fortune, but we underestimated how many t-shirts we'd need for a fortnight in the Caribbean, and the hotel's cheapest t-shirts were about £20 each...

Some places have a self-service laundry, but in general the posher the hotel the less likely they are to have one.

As you say, 5 star don't have laundrettes :-) just an expensive per item service.

I always bring a tiny tube of travel wash, I use it for my swimming gear & if I happen to get anything on clothes I fear may stain, I use it to treat just that area.
