All sounding g ood.
How is your mum?
Thanks Beanie. Mum holding up well, couple of additional issues for medical attention this past week though. Had our 'Mothers Day' get together yesterday afternoon and she loved the basket arrangement of flowers (I did go overboard this year, I know)

I plan on staying in the £107's for a couple of months as well!
Hope you get plenty popping up in the coming weeks and months - love Springtime
You'll be teasing me staying in the £107s, I'll think I'm catching up!A_Frayed_Knot wrote: »All this talk of flowers and bulbs.

Busy day yesterday with birthday presents delivered and received, friends here and the nightmare of trying to move DS's savings
Bank gave balance to me Friday and advised the way to move his money was withdrawing the cash and we could do this Saturday.
We go in there with his savings statement as advised and happen to be served by the same lady I saw on Friday:
Bank - 'Sorry, not got enough cash in branch, can't give it to you.'
Me - 'Can you transfer to my current account and I can transfer it online to his new one?'
Bank - 'Yes' then 'No, it won't go through, amount too much'
Me - 'Can you transfer to DS's current account and he can transfer it by debit card over the phone to the new bank?'
Bank - 'Yes' then 'No, he needs his debit card to prove ID for that account' which he didn't have on him.
At this stage, she's taken both our signatures to check against, his statement, my debit card....what a frustrating waste of 20 mins. We'll try again next Saturday!
Does anyone know at what age a Credit Report is generated? Wondering if DS has one already with having current accounts?
Not much MSE to report - washing dried on airers and put away, meal plan being followed, lack of hoovering saving pennies :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Hi Hollyboll  Thanks for popping in and posting.
:rotfl: Wonder if there's many more 'do nothing' type savings to be made - that'd suit me fine today!A_Frayed_Knot wrote: »Ha - I saw that -

Do teenagers have current accounts now? The whole thing sounds like a nightmare, to be honest. However, surely if your son has a current account he could've done an online faster payment to the new account?
As for cash, I regularly take out between £5,000 and £10,000 cash to buy old cars, watches etc. Whilst I appreciate a bank transfer would be preferable a lot of the old people I buy such items from want cash, though they do seem to be slowly coming around to the idea of a transfer.Anyhow, the bank has always had the money and I've seen them try the "we don't have the money" / "you'll have to order it" with other people, it's nonsense. However, IIRC it is difficult to withdraw more than £10,000 in cash.
Anyhow, glad you treated your mother for today and hope your son treated you.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
From age 11 seems to be the standard for current account (with various limitations), though online access age differs across banks and therefore he doesn't have that with the one we want to move the money from, so online transfer isn't an option
We'll use the big town branch and not the small town branch next Saturday for it.
Whilst I get the need for anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and so on, it's gone past being ridiculous now. They'll be adding an NB to Easy Access T&Cs next of 'we may reject your request to withdraw your own money if we feel like it' :rotfl:
If it weren't for trying to help grow his savings, I wouldn't bother keeping it in a bank after that.
I did get spoilt today too - cup of tea in bed, lovely card and box of chocciesBack on the DFW Wagon:

I wonder if the current accounts for kids is for the bank to perhaps not be paying so much interest to them? Seems completely pointless if they've no online access and I presume don't have a debit card.
Quite thankful my son has no money of his own so far (well that he knows about / has access to). We buy what he needs and ask relatives do not give him money for his birthday or Christmas. No doubt at some point over the next 5 or so years this will need to change.
Glad to hear you were spoilt.2018 totals:
