Well done on your fantastically low food spend. Is that literally just food, or do you count things like cleaning products and toilet roll etc? My grocery bill (which includes cleaning products etc) was £230. I thought that was good but clearly improvements can be made!Mortgage Dec 2015 - £21545 Apr 2016 - £19930

That's everything. Weekly shop is at Ald! but there's a range of things I don't buy in there as they're cheaper elsewhere (example cosmetic tissues 69p, Wilko 40p).
I don't subscribe to the multitude of laundry products, using soap nuts instead or cleaning products as I use Stardrops (though do succumb to a bulk buy of Flash blue when it's £1 a litre in Wilko).
Toilet rolls I buy in F@rm Foods - the Nicky 18 pack for £3+.
All gets listed in the food budget column so is included, January was a low month with some leftover stuff from Christmas and decent stocks of non-Ald! items and a check through of the freezers meant quite a bit of key meal items from there.
I still buy a few branded bits like toothpaste when it's on offer. My pet hate purchases are electric toothbrush replacement heads and razor blade heads - usually amazon for those in bulk and from abroad.
Has taken my 9 years on here to get this slick, but still overspend some months. The grocery challenge and old style board is great if you want to focus on that area tooBack on the DFW Wagon:

My friend got her replacement free just last week.
Spoken to H0tpoint and the FOC replacements are reconditioned ones. Am not being offered one of those though
Only a white new one is on the table at £59. Since it's in the utility room behind a door, aesthetics shouldn't be the priority. Question is what to do...first tumble dryer lasted 19 years so am probably only half way through the life of this one and with the fix due in a few short months do I hang on for that, or pay out and swap. Tempted to hang on and save the £s ...I think!
Thoughts anyone?Back on the DFW Wagon:

I'd probably go with the replacement, only due to the fire risk (fire, to me, is way worse than just dying and needing replacement). Re: the colour, do they make/can you get a cover to put on it? I may be hallucinating, but I seem to remember reading some DIY blog ages ago where someone used contact paper-like stuff to stick onto their white machine (dishwasher, I think) to make it silver or black.0

I think I'd be persuaded by the replacement too Ali if I'm honest but our current mini TD I bought second hand for less than that although it had hardly ever been used. You are making me think if I should be checking the safety of that
.
With four widely different people in the house I just cannot get the weekly shopping budget as precisely managed as you and if I tried it would be WWIII .
This is still a bit of a hobby for me but some of my favourite muses:-
Nicky - yes - the best product on the market which just doesn't feel cheap on the bum :rotfl:!! Its a world beater
I avoid Sainsbugs pretty much. The Nectar money-off vouchers I receive are worthless as I can get everything cheaper elsewhere.
Aldee and Leedl's are great - particularly the latter with their own bakery and great wine. However, as you mention we still have to watch them. Tinned tomatoes / peas / beans can be found much cheaper in Mozzies / Arseda. We have to watch Mozzies very closely too. Some great quality and value (particularly their own butchers) but they are cunning, manipulative pee-takers too :rotfl: !!!
I do generally feel Tisco is a beatifully British-branded waste of spaceVery little to interest us in there.
All in all I hand the prizes to Mozzies and Arseda and the Germans. The Crow-op is on the up but the people who decide on the stock selection are literally on crack  !! I always thought the Crow-op was supposed to be a store for the working family.......? Just look at the yellow sticker items.....pate du fois gras or Aylesbury Duck in blackcurrant or whatever.....who wants that? Nobody seemingly :rotfl:!!!!
The other places are the pound shops - every single one has its merits and we use them all the time - coffee / e-cig tops / washing powder...ha ha :rotfl:great fun.
Seriously hope you get the TD sorted and all is as good as can be with your Mum.
Broggers x0 -
I'm going to go against the grain and keep my current TD, I know the risks so being ultra careful with de-fluffing and only use for towels when I'm around. It's not long to wait until the fix is done.
Broggers, that's a really useful synopsis of the supermarkets, a couple of things there for me to look at too. If a few more pence can be shaved off the bill, then it will
Thanks for thinking of my Mum too, up and down there.
Am leaking money for DS with £52 sent for first instalment of his trip and £60 for next half terms transport. He's in some national school thing soon, might help if he knew where and when though!
Still not needed fuel and food shop may roll over from Thurs to Fri this week - liking the stretching it 8 days.
Not much to report at the moment, still waiting on structural calcs and a bit of wishful spreadsheet fiddling! Work busy and nearly the end of another week. Decluttering the usual cupboards (airing, coats, bathroom) is starting to move up the To Do list. Always have this rose-tinted specs plan of getting indoors perfect so can be outdoors when the Spring arrives...never happens :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Qmee has 44p in the pot
Usual Friday night tasks completed with washing on airers, bins emptied, towels changed etc. On top of the housework and even hoovered at 8am - must be something wrong with me :rotfl:
Does mean a free weekend which is split between being at Mum's tomorrow and going out with friends Sunday with all the dogs for a long walk.
Car service reminder arrived - booked in for 5th March, no cost as on a plan.
Mortgage Interest letter arrived - confirmed at £239.19, 1p less than expected
