Had a mortgage too long - it's going, going, gone!

Maybe I made it up but I didn't think little children should drink mineral water due to the high content of something or other in it. Okay with bottled table water though. That's a bit vague I know!0

Alex, I'm the same as you with DS having a bottle of water daily for school, 2 on PE days (and he has a cereal bar for break - also VATable ). More a school rule here on water - we've tried various re-usable water bottles and they all leaked anyway. So I just suck up the cost for now
You've done the leftovers in the fridge for using the next day. Bulk cooking and freezing is only one step further
Glad I'm not the only one. Can't say son usually drinks all the water but I don't like the idea of putting it in the fridge overnight once it's been opened.
The rule at son's school is water only, though it seems a few parents think it's OK for their children to be drinking coke / lemonade etc. all day.
Yes, done the leftovers in the fridge but not for a while. Wouldn't dare try that here, I get the food issues from my father.ourcornercottage wrote: »Maybe I made it up but I didn't think little children should drink mineral water due to the high content of something or other in it. I'll look into this, thanks.2018 totals:

I didn't realise you could freeze chopped carrots, thank you for that.
We send a bottle of water each day and use a reusuable bottle which actually doesn't leak escept when DS doesn't close it properly. I couldn't afford a bottle of water each day for them.
Frozen cheese is good, regularly freeze brown bananas as well.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Good call on the bananas, had 2 leftover here this week. Found a 'feelgood flapjack' recipe that could use them up. I need to have a cooking and baking day when I feel better.
Dry hair trims done - £22 for DS and I. DS's is so thick it needs thinning often, so I've just ordered a thinning comb at £2.50 to reduce his visits.
5 days to MOP Day and as usual can't leave the figures alone...just upped it to £870

Give it a go...found best is to use up within a few weeks of freezing or they can go a bit soft. And dry them as much as possible before freezing.
Off the mark again with Qmee at 11p - ordered the longed for lemon zester at £3.27. Ought to have taken a leaf out of your book DFOD and had Am@zon gift code instead of cash! Ahh well, next time!Back on the DFW Wagon:

Hasn't been anything to report for a few days, then it all lands at once.
6 monthly water meter bill in - £164.52 or £27.42 p/m. I stopped the monthly DD a long time ago as they yo-yo'd the payments so much, mostly to way over estimated.
DS school trip - 3 days at £262 . 2 of those are travelling!! Is part of a controlled assessment for GCSE so he has to go. Paying in instalments to hang onto my money longerTrip not until September.
Picked up the extension stuff again and inching forward. Structural Engineer now doing calcs and getting builders quotes. Prices gone up as trades back to being very busy in this area. With no rush, I'll see if a lull comes along for an acceptable price.
Expensive week so far and it's only Tuesday :eek:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Water bill seems decent for 6 months - we pay about half that but I rarely shower at home (one benefit to exercising at lunchtime as there's a shower at work), and I grew up in drought conditions so am very conscious of conserving water.
That's a lot for a school trip! Hope it's useful/enjoyable at least.
Extension progress is exciting - will have to live vicariously through you and OCC as we have no room (or budget) for any extension.0 -

Where's your son going on his trip and for what GCSE? Personally, I'll encourage my son to go on as many trips away with school as possible.Nothing wrong with hanging onto your money for longer, it'll only be gathering interest in their account.
Hadn't realised you're that far on with the extension. I've noticed a fair amount of building working happening around here too.2018 totals:

DS's trip is for Geography, 2 nights, 1 whole day and 2 travelling and in the south-west. My MSE head thinks cheaper to drive and stay in a Travelodge or similar :rotfl:
Get the calcs in and architect can do the tech drawings for Building Regs approval. Still think probably 2 years to starting build, but need some figures from builders to work with for saving and funding it. May well source some of the materials myself and could project manage it too, that will help on cost.
Water bill not helped by my lovely power showerbut offset by A+ rated appliances. Think cups of tea are also to blame

Nooooo, it's all part of growing up. Surely your son has been away with school before?
All sounds good re. the extension.
I thought your water bill was low, especially as you've a meter. :eek:2018 totals:
