Had a mortgage too long - it's going, going, gone!

Its such a boost managing to get a much better interest rate. I still take great delight seeing my interest being added to my mortgage statement at almost a third of what it used to be
Good Call.
Hopefully in 2 years time - I'll be thinking the same - in a better place than I am just now, but family needs are priority over my need to o/p - just for now, at least I'm in a position to help, would hate to think someone needed my help and was not able to, so lucky in that respect.
Good Luck with the extension and if it saved lots of ££, then I would be going the roast dinner and puds route, but I'm also a cheapskate:DAlways have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -

That raises some good points. Perhaps taking a 'see how we go' approach is the way to go.
Once I've got figures to crunch, I'll have some clarityBack on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020

Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Finally paid myself and budget all in place for February.
Food shop done and spent £16.05 - total for Jan £101.05.
Fuel lasting well with 150+ miles left, may get another week out of that.
Usual housey bits started and washing drying on airers, housework shouldn't be too challenging as have kept on top of it this week.
Another builder coming to quote Monday after work and good to see it staying light until 5pm time here.
Quick trip into town in the morning planned to move DS's matured Reg Saver £1200 from his Young Saver (2.25%) to his JISA (3%). Contemplating changing £500+ Euros leftover from hols back to Sterling whilst rates are lower and putting that into my 4% account.
Bank phoned to say DS couldn't have a second Under 19s account (when they said he could in branch ), so that appointment cancelled and plan scuppered which leaves the HSBC duo of MyAccount (zero interest) with 3% linked Savings to investigate.
Must do electricity reading and submit before Sunday night.
Plenty to do, let's see how much I actually achieve!Back on the DFW Wagon:

Town visited and free parking. Was more like a tour of the banks :rotfl:
DS's interest was £48ish with his YS and RS accounts, so £1540 moved to JISA, leaving £8+ in the YS (have to have that for the RS). His last year of RS due to being 16 this autumn.
Changed Euros at inde shop (best rate I could find) and off to current account bank and deposited. Kept £100 back for Feb personal spends.
Into H$BC to sort new accounts for DS - big mistake, was chocca. Possibly down to the DDOS attack yesterday, similarly on hold on phone without luck, so have printed forms and will phone in the week for an appointment to sort.
Into Wilk0s for DS school stationery replenishments - £2.70 spent. He also asked for a plaster to cover a hole in his pencil case - talk about 'mend and make do' :rotfl: He's got a new one from Christmas 2 years ago so will change that over.

Wow, well done Cath
Extension will come good for you I'm sure - you'll probably be finished before I start!
Had another builder look earlier, comes recommended and works regularly with one of my DIY/tradesman friends. Full build quite close to first (expensive) quote, but shell price is very good and no sharp intake of breath through clenched teeth whilst shaking head at the difficult bits - a bonus!
Will email him the tech drawings once done to get a written, broken down quote. Architect is currently doing the minor drawing changes too.
H0tpoint have been in touch with an estimated repair date of May for the dodgy fire risk dryer or an offer of a new replacement for £59 - model is good but they're only offering the white version...I've got silver, so am going to phone them tomorrow to see if they'll do that colour. A great deal (£210-£269 elsewhere) if they will do it as dryer is 10 years old and the matching washing machine I replaced a year ago (for another silver one)..I'd have a full matching pair again
Yesterday, did both the elec and gas readings so they're up to date. 2 unit per day reduction on elec compared to January last year surprisingly.
Monthly use and pay off CC has rolled over, so full payment set up for that.

Ahh that's interesting, wondering if they're doing FOC replacements for the newer machines. I've had a good 10 years out of mine, but shudder to think I've lived with a fire risk all that time :eek:Back on the DFW Wagon:
