    Hi all,

Not much happening for me today.

husband has his HGV test this pm at 2.30.

He is REALLY unhappy as we paid for a weeks intensive training course and has only actually been driving for 6 hours! Didn't get any driving at all yesterday as the other chap had his test so needed the practice.

It has been a real con and I am livid. Just hope he passes but I think it's a really tall order. Feel sick with nerves already!!

One other thing I could do with some advice about ~ bee struggling with loosing weight again lately ( I did loose 9 st 2 yrs ago but have since put it all back on!).

A very good old friend who is comming to visit said she would give me £10 for every 1lb I lost between when we spoke a couple of months ago and when she comes for a visit in two weeks. Although I know she meant it and can affoard it ( she earns a FOURTUNE !) now the time is nearer I don't know if it's right to take it.

She would "owe" me £210 as I've lost 21lb , but that's a hell of alot. She is insistant that I deserve it but I don't quite feel compfy with it. Thing is ~ I'm REALLY skint , and what with the school uniform et.c I really could do with it. I know I could give the money to charity , but I am SO potless and sometimes charity begins at home. God that sounds auful.

    What do you all think?

    Morning all.

Scuzz - I think you should leave the application in, then if you get/don't get the job you can ask for feedback. Just so you have info for the future.

    Jockettuk - hugs to you.

Frogga - take the money. Your friend offered and I'm sure meant it. You could compromise, take just half? If I'd offered I would be offended if the recipient then didn't take me up on my offer. Well done on the weight loss BTW.

Not a lot going on here today. Work, then cleaning and tidying this evening so it's not sitting waiting for me tomorrow.

Off to convert my American recipe for blueberry muffins into UK speak. Now, where's that american conversion thread.........................................

    Have a nice day, y'all

Frogga hope all goes well with other half.

Only 2 weeks to husbands retirement date. I have been making a retirement box for him. Lots of surprises about things he hasnt been able to do whilst work has got in the way. It is so funny to think how long we have talked about our plans especially in the ex AA van ( now converted) and now we are nearly there!!!

Friends coming this weekend so I have been scouring the cookery books for inspiration so must go shopping to make sure we have what we need for tasty stress free? meals.

Hope eveyone has a happy day and special thoughts to those who are feeling sad or poorly.

    Hi all
Take the money Frogga, if I'd made the offer, I'd be upset if the money was then refused.
I had a text message yesterday from a photocopier engineer, I have to work Monday morning, that will be 3 days unpaid that I've done! Funny how there is always money for the Senior Managment Team to get overtime & they are on £64k a year.
    Plans for today.
Take hundreds of pics as I've been given yet more stuff to Ebay, I won't have time to work if it carries on like this.
Vacuum through, DD & DGS came over yesterday to play in my garden whilst I was out.
Iron the skirt I'm wearing on Saturday to a friends 50th.
I'm not doing much else as hubby has given me his man flu, fortunately I only have a cold.
    Hugs to all

    Hi Amie,

Sorry about the baby hedgehog :o

Our hedgehog was back last night, so put some dog food out and this morning it has gone, so we now seem to be providing board and lodgings for at least one hedgehog. We also seem to have all the birds in the neighbourhood in our garden - we put four fat balls out, and the next day, they have gone

:rotfl: Good morning everyone ,well as I was saying before I was so rudely interupted by the very nice surgeon called would you believe Delilah:D I will be back and here I am. :j
I feel as though I have been run over by a steam roller ,but I have bounced back a little thinner ,definately a bit lop-sided, but I am still here.;)
I cannot imagine why anyone would getting hooked on morphine as it was great for about 3 hours then you woke up with a thumping headache and feeling as though you had swallowed something extremely disagreeable.
Still the worst so far has been whipped off, and next Monday I will return to the breast care clinic to see what other little goodies are lined up for me .
You would have hooted if you saw me in the anesthestic room before my op. There was this rather gorgeous 'gas-man' whom I couldn't take my eyes off, and having had a wee 'shot' of something before I went down, my normal reticience;) went to the winds .Whilst holding my eldest DD's hand, and waiting for the 'real' stuff to go in apparently I said to her 'Hey hasn't he got a lovely bum' To which she replied in her sternest terms "MOTHER,behave yourself ' There was an assistant male nurse there who said 'what good taste you Mum has Shelly ' On that note the whole of the pre-op room descended into hysterics, and I was swiftly put to sleep for several hours.
The nuses told me when I was in recovery that the poor young 'gas-man' will have a hard job living it down now as they have nick-named him 'luvely bum'
I can't even behave in a decorous manner in the hospital, still it brightened their day up. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I am back home now and have my sis-in-law staying with me and cooking me smashing home-cooked meals bless her.
My eldest DD had to go to East Grinstead yesterday, and had her mole removed and as far as we know it has been successful.

My two girls have been quite amazing with sharing hospital visiting between them and getting shopping ect as well.
Tess (my youngest DD) with 4 of my grandsons arrived to visit and the three youngest boys were a bit subdued, and I said what have you done to them and she said she had threatened them with dire consequences if they got too excited .
She evidently sat them down and told them that Nannies boob had to come off as it wasn't very well and Jack aged 7 said 'Ow I bet that hurt '.:rotfl:
Henry aged 6, asked if I would grow a new one  like when he gets his hair cut :rotfl:
    and the youngest Mikey said
'Nanny not got a booby now ?' she didn't want them to worry so she thought that as near the truth as possible was the best way.
When Mikey saw me yesterday he looked very
seriously at my chest and prodded my own one and said 'it that you in there Nanny' :rotfl: to which I said 'yes' and his brother Henry said 'the other one is the pretend one isn't it' and I said 'yes'
'O.K.' they both chorused, and trotted off to play in the garden .They have been great kids and have taken it in their stride which I am pleased about .

I have discovered that I have to safety pin the 'softie' one to my bra, or if I bend down to pick something up it tends to fly up past my right ear which could be a bit embarrasing if I was to run for a bus :rotfl:
By hey life is full of suprises isn't it .I hope everyone has been OS'ing and sticking to their budgets whilst I have been lolling around like 'Lady Muck' in my bed. I never spent a tanner whilst I was in there as I couldn't be bothered with newspapers or t.v. for awhile.
But now I am out and looking onward and upward to getting stronger every day .I had a gentle stroll to my local shops yesterday and found it was wonderful just to be in the fresh air after the 'canned air' of the hospital. Everything looks so much greener when you come out from the white sterile rooms.
I guess with all the candles that were being lit last week there must be a whopping great hole in the ozone layer .Thanks everybody your prayers and gentle thoughts seem to have worked :A Well I'm off now to have some breakfast and to attempt to shower whilst standing on one leg :rotfl: as I must try to keep the sterri-strips dry for as long as possible Take care everyone and <<Hugs >> to those who need them
    God Bless you all

    Good morning all,

    Donny-gal & Essex-Girl - Hope you have fantastic holidays
Csarinaknight - Sorry you had a bad nights sleep
Stefejb - Congratulations to your Dad
Frogga - Good luck for your husbands test, its outrages that he's only had 6 hours tuition. Your friend sounds lovely, could you use some of the money for a treat for you both? Maybe a healthy meal out?

Thanks for all your kind words yesterday, i'm feeling much better today, dd and I had a friend and her kids over for most of the morning and then we went to my Mums for a couple of hours in the afternoon, I think getting out of the house and having company has done us the world of good. Today we're off to a soft play place, just the 2 of us, i'm hoping to get there as it opens so we can leave once it gets really busy.

Mr Alibob feels that he had redemed himself (he hasn't!) by working from home today, so he will be sat upstairs in his study, coming down for the odd cup of tea and then sprinting up the stairs when the phone rings. No menton of time off work at all so I guess that that is that. We are lucky that the company he works for gives him 2 weeks paid paternity leave, he also gets 6 weeks holiday a year but i'm sure that he doesn't use them all. Anyway, no more moaning.

Just general housework today, I do have ironing but not sure it will get done, its been looking at me all week! I need to do at least one machine wash.

Breakfast - Toast for me and a breakthrough for dd who's eaten cereal for the first time in weeks :j
    Lunch - sandwiches
Dinner - either thai quorn green curry or maybe the chippie depending on how tired I am. dh and I share a portion so we do it in a moneysaving way!

    Have a good day all.
